How are these things for emulation?

Not that I necessarily believe it, but isn't the rationale that technology allows us to scale without the need for additional humans? A bit in the same way that oil provides us many multiples of manpower? So for example, if AI can repl

I liked the idea behind the movie, but the movie itself wasn't very good. It was a bit like the movie Mickey 17, it didn't quite know what it wanted to be and tried to be a lot of things, but none of it really stuck and it ended u

What I'm describing is much broader: Food security i.e. running out of fish to extract from the seas.

I find it interesting how China is so keen to develop EVs as a way to get away from oil dependency, yet other areas of their economy aren't treated with the same urgency.

I would have to disagree. Those same games that didn't work on SteamOS worked flawlessly on Windows 11.

The main pain point I have with SteamOS is game compatibility, in particular with older games (90s/2000s). Maybe 60% of games work and it's such a headache trying to get it working, if it can be fixed at all. Modern games however

Not quite relevant, but I've noticed that there's this trend on HN where if there's a non-tech-related happening that's significant and it's obviously something that people want to discuss, people will try and find

Not at all related (though I am Australian), but I was visiting a primary school one time and there was a large sand pit for the children to play in. Next to the sand pit was a newly installed drinking fountain. However funnily, the entire

What you're saying makes no sense without context. You say "we" but someone who's extremely active vs extremely sedentary are going to require different macros to compensate.

As someone who has been weight lifting for the past few years and previously was really into keto diets, one thing I've realised is that carbs are simply necessary in order to have the energy to push very heavy weights. Fat just doesn&

I think a huge tradeoff that people haven't mentioned is that in using AI to replace workers, you're introducing a dependency on AI that you previously didn't have. This poses a terrible long-term risk for companies.

I think what's happening though is that current generations are taking it easier in a lot of ways as a result of having to work more. For example, avoiding senior promotions into management etc.

Maybe not quite related, but I remember as a teenager dreaming about building the ultimate modern gaming PC, because the PC I had kind of sucked. But now that I'm an adult and can more-than afford it, I simply don't want to spend

I think it depends on what you value. I think a large part of taking photos and recording things for a lot of people is that they like to journal and record things, in part, for future generations to have. Like it's great you had those

I think this might be the answer. I think the issue is that I just do so much at my desk. I work. I eat etc. So it's like, when I'm eating it doesn't occur to me to wear them. but I just need to remember that when I'm at

I've tried this, it didn't seem to work. I think half the challenge is remembering to even put them on your keyboard in the first place - because if you miss it once, then it's completely out of mind. For context, I guess par

The bit I always struggled with sourdoughs is the baking part. It would just never bake correctly and end up either exploding (large pocket of air) or be some kind of subterraneous sponge cake. I've never had this issue with baking reg

I mean, that's probably a different dynamic. I didn't have to interact with the adults in that scenario, I could just be alone in my room. To be fair, I think I was just a shy child/teenager. I didn't really feel comfort

I would describe that more as a distraction or a cope in response to something, not as a balance. With balance you wouldn't need excessive entertainment to begin with. It'd be like saying we have cigarettes to deal with stress or

I guess the issue regarding the OP is that there needs to be some kind of balance. It's great that we have all these things, but it's at the cost of ever-increasing productivity and time. Perhaps in the modern age this trade off n

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. I generally hated being dragged to the friends houses of my parents. It was just needlessly boring. On the contrary, it sometimes was okay if that friend had children. I think the issue in the

Fair enough. I feel it's not uncommon for people with children to remarry, but yeah I imagine it has it's own challenges. I feel like for me it would be a) Wanting someone I have a deep connection with and b) Someone who's in

Do you think it's important for your child to have a relationship his mother, if that makes any sense at all? Like do you celebrate her birthday etc. How do you retain that connection, or do you just leave it in the past?
