What does "at scale" mean? I ask because my last job was at a web host with 80,000ish paying customers. We had over 100k users of our web portal (built with Rails) which customers use to manage their sites. This was a business wit

Why should anyone care how many github stars one library has compared to another?

You're right. This might sound weird but it's been so long since I've watched nightly news that I actually forgot that it's live.

What kind of mentorship would the management of a company that is doing $4B/year in sales need? I don't mean that sarcastically. I would have thought, "clearly these people figured it out."

They already have shows that run a bit like that. I believe Michelle Wolff's show is one of them.

You think this comment makes you sound smart. Like you know something "these people" don't. Really it just makes you sound out of touch with reality.

As someone who would like to lose about 50lbs I have a lot of questions. Mostly I'd like to know how you determined your resting metabolic rate. I've started working out a little and adjusted my diet a lot but I kinda feel like I&

Michelle Obama suggested that kids eat apples at school and people here lost their shit over it. I'd love it if we banned sweets in schools but I just don't see it happening.

The idea of "restoring" art is really fascinating to me. There have been times in the past where the restorers' choices would likely have been in conflict with the artist's original intention. I'd love to know more

This "manifesto" really clarified for me something that I've often noticed about people who strongly believe in remote working but had trouble putting to words. For a lot of people remote work is less about the actual remote

It's not a hot take to think that an unsustainable service that many members of government have campaigned on reducing or eliminating entirely wont exist in 30+ years.

Delta flight attendants aren't unionized (my step mother is one) and they are very anti union. They believe pretty strongly that they have a good relationship with management and do no need a union. From what I gather it's pretty

I just want to point out that when my mother was president of her local teachers' union prior to joining NYSUT her stipend was at most a couple thousand dollars for the year.

Definitely with Shopify. I have bought stuff from companies built on Shopify many times and I get all the normal promotional stuff you'd expect.

Good for them. I hope that this works out well for both parties (labor and management). I'm curious about the details. I believe that in New York if a union negotiates your contract you are legally obliged to be a member of that union

It's 2018. There's almost zero reason to build an online store yourself if all that is being sold is stitching work. This sounds like a perfect use case for Shopify/Etsy/Big Cartel or any of the many sites that do this a
