Mostly merchandising and touring.

Correct. But I also switched because chrome was better. There was no abuse by Google that impacted my decision. It was Chrome's per tab process that created more stability and overall less bloat.

You must have missed the entire 90s. Microsoft hasn't changed, it's just got better PR. Google has it's faults as well, but I vastly prefer Google's contribution over Microsoft's.

I think that was the point (in other words, yes).

If this is truly what you want, then what is your suggestion for financing the existence of sites that wish to stay afloat? Paywalls don't work.

Advertisers have nothing to do with a paid product. GSuite (or whatever it is called now) can be paid for. Just an fyi as you seem to be misinformed.

Why don't you just create a new Google Account specifically for this?

Just an FYI, you seem to have a strong bias and it's coming through. Sometimes a duck is just a duck.

Who said that was the goal? You are projecting. Google, as any company would, is looking to diversify. Not everything is about ads or tracking the user for ads.

Someone in the US govt should write a bill that forces Fox News to pay Google/Facebook/Twitter for the cost of spreading misinformation on their platforms. Should equalize things quite a bit.

The latter. It's ridiculous. I wish Google had not caved.

No. The time has passed when it crossed into violence. We should do here what the Germans did to Nazi groups after the war. Ban them.

Honestly Google would probably issue refunds if that ever happened. At some point, sp games are often not replayed or come down substantially in price. I'm not worried given their history.

E.g. you cannot yell "Fire!" in a theater and expect "Freedom of Speech" to protect you from any repurcussions.

Yes. I would imagine it revolves around demonstrating harm. Just because something is big doesn't necessitate a break up.

You are an anecdote though. I really dislike the Play Music -> Youtube Music transition as well, but I'm not cancelling. $15/month for my family not to watch Youtube ads + music is still OK.

Then why don't you? GSuite is a thing.

Expect an escalation if that happens and more bans on Chinese companies.

Why would that matter to anyone but Microsoft? AFAIK Firefox still exists as does KHTML.

Mac is similar too. I get tired of having to upgrade my OS (losing features such as 32 bit support or having to upgrade to use new hardware) simply to stay secure.

There should be an App Store union that boycotts Apple's policies to help to the App developers shift some of the balance of power.
