Oh, I didn't @ or DM anybody. I just had a feed with tweet once an hour, and even then I manually approved the Tweets before they went out. My account made very clear it was a bot, it was in its name. Didn't ever get very many fol

Hey, me too! I populated the markov chain with the text of my Twitter feed with a recency bias and generated tweets based on that so it stayed topical. The account sat unused after Twitter locked down their API, and at some point got hacked

In Philip Glass's autobiography he says when people accuse him of selling out by having his music in movies and ads, he tells he got into music to make money. I've got an insane amount of respect for that honesty. The book was rea

The lack of default argument values initially annoyed me, but I kind of came to like it. It makes me put more thought into my function interfaces. In the rare cases I do want a default it's usually reasonable to just add a second funct

What exactly has Mega done that Dropbox hasn't? In my eyes they're basically the same product, the only difference being Mega's edgier tone.

The small private college I attended in the early aughts used your SSN as your student ID and it was printed on everything. Transcripts, official records, basically any piece of paper with your name on it. You'd even speak it aloud to

By that definition 24-bit image is "lossy" to 32-bit images, and 32-bit images lossy to 64-bit images ad infinitum and lossless formats don't exist. A gif is lossless in that it does not lose data. When you define a frame wit

I recently downloaded an "avif" thinking that I was downloading a gif. A little annoyed, I started poking around at it with ffmpeg and discovered that the file contained two video streams. I extracted both individually with -c cop

When I figured out that you can disable individuals retweets but keep their actual direct tweets, that saved my feed. I know a fair number of people who post fascinating things, but also retweet a lot of news and politics I don't want.
