While I am no fan of Java the language myself, there is no reason for schadenfreude. I would like to see Java survive, if only because of its virtual machine (and Jython, Clojure, JRuby, etc).

You are currently using 642 MB (8%) of your 7489 MB. I don't know, maybe if you have a lot of mail, you should check that once in a while.

I actually wonder why, amongst all the billions of humans who have ever lived, there has never been a randomly mutated individual who exhibited negligible senescence. If such a person existed, man, the stories s/he could tell us.

I am in almost the same situation, but I'm partially supporting parents instead of a wife. Good luck to us both. :)

Wouldn't explaining the reasons for not moving while using the money instead for generous employee bonuses solve that problem?

I actually agree with you about the definition of success. I would consider my next project a success if it somehow generates enough profit to allow me to dump the day job. However, that in itself is a lottery (the one I was referring to),

The design team has lead the way, developing a “touch language” which goes beyond the work that we’ve seen elsewhere. Rather than single, magic gestures, we’re making it possible for basic gestures to be chained, or composed, into more so

Speaking as a programmer, I don't think you need to be a brilliant programmer to do a startup. If you can cobble something useful together using duct tape and glue, then sprinkle some glitter on it until it looks sort of nice, people will p

Me too. I'm in Singapore and, say what you will about the way the country is governed, but they always make it easy for business to be conducted here. If Google is actually trying here, I'd be very interested to know what difficulties the

Well, actually, I think startup founders actually need this kind of slight delusion. In my more rational moments, I think my ideas suck, my plans are hollow and I'm going to be a wage slave for the rest of my life because of my obligation

If you're at all like me, you might end up being very discontented at every job you go to, especially when you see things that are obviously being done wrong, and you do not have the power to change them.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand this decision. Is Oracle in need of cash or something? Why did they become patent trolls? I mean, they're not even in the smart phone business, and it's not like Google is going to put a DBMS into Andr
