While that's true, keep in mind that not everyone who bought Peace know who Marco Arment is. I don't even think he released the app using his name. Customers who bought the app only because it was the top app in the App Store at t

I'm not sure how smart it is to give people advice on privacy and which software to use to avoid surveillance via a traditional book. I'd much rather get my advice from EFF's Surveillance Self-Defense or TTC's Security I

Content providers (from ad networks to movie studios) need to realise that you can only go so far. Ads have become more than ads. They track you wherever you go, not just online but offline too and people are starting to realise how intrusi

That's my reasoning behind deleting tweets as well. They just aren't worth preserving. I only tweet about the things I'm passionate about, which are human rights, privacy and politics so I can and do tweet impulsively to vent

My main reason is that I don't want to write to an audience of bots. I'm using twitter semi-anonymously so none of my real life friends follow me there (I don't have a separate account for this), so people who follow me and I

Yep, that's what I meant. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word annoying as there's no way for the app to know that and it's simply working as intended.

Instapaper is annoyingly great at remembering where you left off in an article. I was a Pocket user too (though not a paid one) but I switched to Instapaper because I felt like Pocket was losing focus. I'm a happy paid Instapaper user

1. I agree that this can be annoying at times, but you can disable this. Settings > Advanced > Show full website address 2. I have no answers for this one, other than to say that I haven't experienced it.

That's true to an extent, but with the search bar you have a choice. I can use Google (or Yahoo Search, since that's been the default option for some time now) to get better results but less privacy, or I can use DDG to get slight

That actually makes it worse. At least if there was a transaction between two companies, I would've undertood Mozilla's decision. Now it makes zero sense.

I wouldn't go so far as saying it was appalling, but it was in bad taste. No one doubts Americans are ahead of everyone else in terms of science and exploration, so they certainly deserve to celebrate however they want, but science and

In deals like this, service providers don't have the upper hand, content providers do. Apple wouldn't have been able to offer free 3 month trial if record companies wouldn't have agreed to it. Maybe I'm misinformed, but

Not sure I understand this argument. Shouldn't she complain about the record companies rather than Apple? It's not like Apple's making money during that free 3 month period.

I don't disagree with you. I'm not siding with Google or Fastmail and I don't use their services but I can see why would someone leave Google and choose Fastmail just because they don't want to be tracked by Google. Of c

It would've been great to have this available on mobile too. Do they expect people to cook next to their computers? Phones/tablets are _the_ device to use in the kitchen for this sort of thing.

Congrats on the launch of Signal 2.0. I hope it'll be a popular app, but I have a question slightly off topic: Why can't we get an app like Signal for the desktop? Yes, I'm aware there are alternatives for the desktop (mainly
