There are senior engineers out there that have <4 years professional experience. I myself went from IC3 (junior) to IC5 (senior) at FB in around 3 years and this is pretty common at FB from what I've seen.

That's great! Thanks for the info, Geomiq looks brilliant. If you could go into more detail on the CE self certification that would be awesome. How did you figure out what testing you need to perform on the product to complete the self

Amazing job! The keyboard looks great. I have a couple of question for you regarding how you built the prototype and how you are planning to manufacture it. I am building something much less ambitious but also a hardware project and could r

Adjacent to the topic of this article but I really love Gergely's reporting. It's great that he is shining a light at how poorly these companies are handling layoffs. Hopeful that this will change our industry for the better.

I wonder if it's still that way. At Meta it is not, you need to go through an interview loop to move from Production Engineering to SWE (even though the culture at Meta makes PE far more similar to SWE than SRE is to SWE). I bet the re

Interesting, I've lived in the UK for many years, have heard many times that it is mosquito-free and haven't run into mosquitoes in all my time here. I would still say that the UK has many orders of magnitude less mosquitoes than

What's always been interesting about the languages Meta uses is the story of the rise and fall of the D programming language at Meta. I wasn't around at the time when Andrei was working there and advocating for its adoption, but i
