PIs are used in industry when possible because so easy because unofficial documentation and community is so large to the point where practically every use case has already been documented. It's much easier for Raspi foundation to relea

Raspi really needs to come out with a 'pro' model. I guess they kind of did with the compute module but raspi's are used a lot professionally in industry, probably more than they are used as a tool to get kids and developing

The poor work harder than the rich? Have you ever met a poor or rich person? Did you not have kids in high-school that never do any of their work then drop out? That is what the path to poverty looks like. Many are poor because they do no w

I think the US (and power nations in general) have a history of reverse engineering the foreign war tech they can get their hands on.

Not to mention giving a man a fish does nothing to teach him to fish. Being poor in the US is mostly an attitude problem and there will always be a portion of people that lack the correct attitude maintain a job or climb the latter in any m

There are regularly same chain gas stations on the same corner because people don't search for a station, they use one that doesn't require an extra left turn. I don't ever see an EV station and live in a large city. I think

We wouldn't be living in the lock down hell hole in a pre internet world. The idea that children playing online games are better off than those that don't is disgusting. It's a relic of this sad excuse for a life we live now.

I just got into that channel recently. The youtuber was one of the 4 guys that restored the Apollo guidance computer. The entire process is documented on his channel. It was very humbling to watch these guys debug damn near every transistor

I never got why the relays used in old computers were so large. Typically relays are power devices so they are kind of beefy. But for computers of that era I always thought it would be possible to create boards with much higher relay densit

Yea it's mostly a joke and shows how a lot of this is contextual. I personally consider 1999-2000 the transition into the 21st century. Arguments otherwise are little more than awkward pedantry. Year 2021 could be seen as either the 21

My cat acts the same towards my sweaty post-workout socks. He can't seem to get enough of 'em. And he doesn't seem to care for cat nip nearly as much.

I bought a ton of catnip and my cat seemed to become indifferent to it pretty quickly. Maybe it just dried out, though.

The author seems to be confusing building software with using software. We can build higher level software that allows people to do more (excel), but someone still has to know how all that works (and even what /usr/local/bin

That is what I miss about high school athletics. Having a coach. It really is a unique and valuable relationship that unfortunately doesn’t really seem to be accessible to most after high school. Not to mention the comradely of teammates.
