Not really much NIMBY arguments in Finland as the storage site is right next to the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant.

Flying low does not mean "scraping trees" but for example Glass G airspace (uncontrolled basically) is everything under 1200' not near airports etc. For a lighter than air craft 1000 feet off the ground is quite a big margin

Just fly it close to the ground and the only controlled airspace is near airports (and some big cities, military stuff, etc). Should not be that hard to stay out of those for the most part if you are transporting stuff like windmill parts t

Not really. Just a prediction about the future and as the infrastructure takes years to build out better to start early than late. Bandwidth usage globally has been growing at around 30% per year for a long time now with nothing showing it

I think the idea is to do it only run such plants when there is massive overproduction from solar/wind that makes the price of electricity zero or negative. Basically storing what can't be used at that moment. It does not matter i

Here in Finland they innovated a long time ago by building/owning more electricity production capability than they use and selling to themselves "at cost" instead of market rate when it makes sense. This also ties into the n

The AC unit can do heating if you just run the pump in the opposite direction. It is just a feature the manufacturer did not bother to install/wants extra money for (it is literally a single $20 part for the valve). Obviously they are

A wok with a flat bottom is wok with a flat bottom not a normal flat bottom pan. As for heat my 11kW induction top has never failed to keep any wok/pan hot enough for stir frying. According to this convertor I found online https:/

Heat pumps are used all over the Nordics and work just fine. Air one can get quite expensive to run during the coldest days but ground heat pumps literally do not care how cold it is outside (the ground temperature will stay the same anyway

For the record most (all?) induction cook tops have a glass surface too. Also induction ones are not that much more expensive. Here in Finland the price difference is ~50e when compared to a ceramic ("glass") one. And as for cooki

Nobody is using gas to heat anything in Finland. District heating is pretty much all some combination of waste heat from some other industrial process (including electricity production), coal, wood or peat. Some district heating scale heat

Finland also has the unique problem of most of the imported electricity having to come through Sweden and the national grid of Sweden is not up to the task (one of the reasons for really high electricity prices in Finland at the moment)

Again none of the electricity from OL3 is sold directly to consumers so there is no strike price to think about. Instead the investors pay whatever the "at cost" price happens to be to run the plant. Also TVO does not have that mu
