I guess we should shame you for being ignorant about human beings and the value of being kind. There are plenty of ways to point out ignorance without being unkind (and the grandfather comment is a nice attempt).

One of the important parts in the post seems to be that it is not just a C++ build system, there are many other tasks executed through the build system. In that sense, it seems like build2 isn't a great fit.

Not sure I understand the part about raw pointers. As far as I understand, Rust references will surely turn into pointers at the LLVM IR level?

What about oreboot, the Rust version of coreboot? I know you have a history with writing Rust code, so are you looking at oreboot as an alternative to coreboot for these purposes, as well?

Disclaimer: one of Quinn's maintainers. Actually, Quinn is split up in two crates: quinn is the tokio-based async layer, but quinn-proto provides an async-agnostic state machine (and provides a trait-based abstraction over its use of r

I have little doubt that Go is easier to get started with than Rust. However, I'm very skeptical that Go "scales" better on any other axis than onboarding new people quickly. Also not convinced the Go toolchain is better than

Have you actually used Rust? I spend very little time (or code) on resource management when writing Rust code. And when I do, it's usually the compiler helping me understand an aspect of my design that doesn't work as I expected.
