Most insightful comment here IMHO. Vaguely reminiscent of the Glasgow Ice Cream Wars, I'd rather not buy from anyone involved

Generally a fan of your posts, but this one was very heavy on marketing buzzology ("cloud scale"). I can't tell if there was a genuine use case for designing a proprietary SSD, or if it were some pet project. Is "75% low

No definitive answer, but educated guess: I'm not sure how things are in Ruby, but in Python frame object lifetime does not correspond to the C stack implementing the interpreter. If your code throws an exception, frames are returned a

Tech savvy people often discard browser cookies at every opportunity. Adding a 2FA step to every interaction with Google is a change in routine, and forced routine changes are a great time to break any harmful habit

Probably a little easier for me, I stopped adopting anything new from Google for personal use after the Reader episode. I still have access to some business accounts mostly for GCloud.

Seems like a great opportunity for folk to reevaluate whether they need a Google account at all. I finally escaped in September, after first trying all the way back in 2011. Dragged my feet for so long until eventually just saying "fu

I'd much rather the opposite: an honest public DNS service that offers all data collected to the public, with some premium paid for high frequency data, and free from any conflict of interest. I would happily use a service like this si

That is almost 2 years old, and does not seem to cover aggregate processing applied before the logs are deleted. FWIW stripping the last octet is the same as happens in EDNS, it is far from anonymous.

All providers are in on this "free" public DNS scam for the same reason, and it makes me wonder why anyone would voluntarily donate their entire home's click analytics to a super-aggregator free of charge. Did I miss the link
