The problem with ! is that it's a shifted character, so it's not a good choice for something which you use many times a day. An unshifted character would be better. E.g. comma: ,w for wikipedia

If you have SSH connection to the server then you can do all your editing on your own computer with Tramp in Emacs and it applies your changes remotely. So emacs being installed on a server or not is not really a reason to drop it, because

There are many protests every day in China, so people do want to protest, but many people don't, because they are afraid of repercussions. If peaceful protests were allowed then much more people would go to the streets to protest.

I wonder if the average Chinese is aware of these problems if not affected by them directly. If it is not reported in media and you don't know anyone who's affected then how would you know about this? And knowing about is this imp

Is uploading legal too? Because downloading is legal in other EU contries too, but uploading is not, so you can't use torrent to download, because that uploads too. So if uploading is not legal then you can't use torrent.

They don't want to devote resources to investigate what should they do to comply. It's a business decision. If only a fraction of their visitors come from the EU then it may not be worth it to deal with the GDPR.

Not everyone uses Apple, and not all GUIs use the system widgets. The latter are usually opaque to such scripting tools, at most you can script clicking to a certain position in a window which can break the script if buttons are moved.
