I use a blocker too, but the problem is if everyone starts blocking ads then the current free internet cannot be sustained as it is today. We'll have to move to a paid model, which won't be cheap if you choose to visit many sites,

I'd say language support is the most important for productivity if we talk about programming. Having the whole API under your fingertips, doing safe refactorings easily, etc. are much more important for productivity than simple editing

I forget syntaxes of various languages or language features, so it's really handy that emacs can show them to me from stackoverflow with completion: https://i.imgur.com/dDvHfOn.gif

I'd say no, but I'm certainly not a vscode expert.

Of course I meant editors which I know and tried like vscode. I don't know Textadept, so it may be easy to write quick scripts in it. As for your C-d example, it's a trivial function in emacs which I too wrote many years ago and

If you want to write a new command for vscode then you have to register it in contribution points in the editor which is done in a json file. I don't know if you can do that dynamically and if you can't then you can't create

It's a pretty basic feature, so of course they can do that, and now with language servers they can do even more. What they usually can't do is the more involved stuff, like refactoring, because there is no company who pays people

Does it also offer an api for plugins, instead giving access to all of the editor like emacs? Because that is one thing I found limiting in vscode that I can do only what the api devs thought of.

I tried vscode the other day to see what it's about and it's nice, but I found plugin development convoluted and very limiting compared to emacs. No chance of quickly writing a script to automate something in the editor, because i

Go to https://meta.stackoverflow.com/ and add your proposal as a question (don't have to be in actual question format, as existing examples show). This is a problem which should be solved.

I'm not a vscode user, I just tried it once, but isn't it how it currently works? You open some file in a new language and then it istantly recommends you to install the relevant plugins with a click.

> If emacs is so much more extensible, why is there so much better language support for mainstream languages in VSCode? Writing language support like refactoring and stuff is a huge task, and emacs has a handful of volunteer maintainers

Compared to Emacs extensions where you simply eval your new function and it becomes part of the editor this process is quite complicated. Those who don't know Emacs can't really understand how quick it is to write extensions for e

For high value targets, probably. For average spear phising I don't think they spend more resources to break out from docker. Since default docker runs linux, running the browser in a linux docker can be enough, because they usually ha

Does it a help in this case if one runs the browser in a sandbox? E.g. in docker? They can then break out from the browser, but only get to docker with that exploit, and it's unlikely they have a docker exploit too at hand, is it?

HarmonyOS is sort of a vaporware, isn't it? We heard about it, but if someone comes out with a new product then he should demontrate it. So skepticism is in order in this case.

The only reason I can think of is if this is something which one very rarely needs. Otherwise, I'd think those who regularly handle JSON files are able to write a one line program. And the JS console was only an example. Other language

You can do the same in the browser console. I don't really get why people need an online tool for this: copy(JSON.stringify(obj, null, 2)) obj can be parsed with JSON.parse if it is in text.

Using emacs doesn't mean you have to use the default keys. I don't, because I find the defaults bad. I use the arrow keys and other bindings changed to my taste and my hands don't hurt. Emacs is only a bunch of defaults which
