I really love Umami but the user / team management is incredibly weird and I still haven’t figured it out. Anyone else finding the same?

This is deeply impressive, and of course the first thing I'm doing is sharing it with some mates. The technical completeness of this, the fact that you can do this sort of thing in the browser at all - that to me is mindblowing (I'

That's a really interesting point. And I guess related - physical media. Saving up for some vinyl or a cassette, going down the shop and adding it to your [physical] collection had a whole bunch of interactions along the way. Meeting y

This is a tremendous piece. It rings so very true. I was 18 in 1990. I'm undoutebdly rose-tinting it but it was indeed edgy and weird and loaded and cool and unknown and just basically fucking brilliant. I look at my teen / 20

When people get cross, it's most likely because it's the same old hype cycle in action that has been cycling for the past 40 years: 1. New Thing gets traction, 2. New Thing gets hailed as Next New Thing, 3. Everyone jumps on board

Well, I thought this was pretty terrific, and I'm a little sad to see some of the comments. I don't think it's a "very expensive mid-life retirement", to echo and paraphrase much of the criticism here. Yes, it could

IMO what kills Mastodon is what us nerds say is the single important point about Mastodon: federation. Stay with me... So: federation is very cool in principle, and it's extremely cool in that it in theory means we don't have Just

We’ve been struck by how there really isn’t a strategy that works for the Faithful. As other people have pointed out, there’s a fairly scary tribalism to the voting, but very very little logic. And I’m not sure anything would actually “work

It’s clearly a self hosted GitHub alternative and that’s IMO the way to talk about it. And per other comments, it’s obviously this once you start using it - it’s basically the GitHub interface and it’s great that it is - it’s very familiar

Ours are now a bit older - 17 and 20. So - on the one hand, I have no experience of kids who have lived an "always-digital" life. On the other, I feel I've learned quite a lot about how to think about this in a feasible /

As founder of a 15 year micro consultancy I'm nodding along. We've chosen quite deliberately not to grow. I don't want staff or huge wads of cash, I don't want to be rich; I want a gentle, family focused, sustainable, co

Probably the thing you really want from an article with this topic focus is to be able to see the images bigger then a postage stamp size. And, even more irritating - the images are actually there, in reasonable size, just not linked... ht
