I love, love, love that you shipped. It looks great and I'm tempted purely to support you and see what it's like. But I gotta ask: how much **** noise are you lot making in the toilet? What on earth are you all doing in there...!?

On the one hand I’m nodding along and have a bunch of links bookmarked about the - for want of a better phrase - “trend to mediocrity”. It’s true that the median is where everything goes if you feed the beast the most average stuff you can

Thanks Tom, I'll take it if it didn't add anything. Sarcasm it wasn't, I thought it was a great piece, just didn't have time at the time to add anything more!

Require an email address, charge a dollar a year and have a reasonable report / takedown policy. That’d probably be 99% of the problem gone.

I just don’t have any of these worries with Obsidian. I pay for it because it’s great software and needs support. The sync is amazing, totally solid. The data is wherever you want that data to be. It’s just MD files. You can adapt the tool

This entire endless conversation would be made SO much easier if we spent some time thinking about the difference between web APP and web SITE. They get conflated all the time and although there is of course a Venn diagram where there’s a b

This is really lovely, very responsive, and better than other tools I've tried. Is it just me though, or is the saving functionality wonky? I seem to be able to save but then "save as" doesn't prompt for a new filename &

My (probably naive) take on this is that America / the American Dream is founded on this principle of individualism / "boy done good" / "everyone can make something of themselves", and thus maybe a deep fe

Totally disagree! If you're non technical: wordpress.com - choose site name, create account, make website. Then if you want to grow you can pay for a domain, custom plugins, themes, shop. If you really want to grow then you can bring y

Just not true, although entirely aligned with HN users who often believe that the levels of nerdery on HN are common in the real world. WP isn’t bad, you’ve just done it wrong, and there really isn’t a better alternative for hundreds and hu

Of all the arguments, the “but it’s expensive” one is the one I really fail to parse. Search is probably the tool we all use day in and day out - it’s critical to everything we do both at work and at home. Paying for it is only a mind str

I really, really liked that you use WordPress - in my opinion it's a hugely overlooked platform for making really solid products / software. I've built a bunch of dashboards, SaaS tools and other things - once you understand
