Shared information at each endpoint can be used to communicate efficiently but it doesn't qualify as "data compression" as that is currently defined. For example, if you have a library of books on your end then I can send you

I think the key to qualifying something as a sense means that it provides info external to the mind and body, i.e. the whole organism. Proprioception doesn't qualify as a sense by this standard. It depends on where you draw the line.

After thinking about this I disagree. I did a search of proprioception and it essentially means self-perception, more specifically of the body's self orientation. The sense of balance is actually a sensor that provides information exte

I will only provide two clues, if you are genius then this should be enough to solve the debate. 1) Entropy and time are epistemological not a metaphysical concepts. 2) The "Big Bang" and the ultimate "Singularity" was n

If true it would be a seventh sense. Balance is the sixth sense that everyone forgets.

Yes, scary. And given Mayer's penchant for numbers your suspicion is almost certainly the case. It reminds me of Henry Ford saying "If I asked people what they wanted they'd say a faster horse". Mayer was suppose to lead

Society puts a lot of pressure on people to follow the social norm; go to school, get a degree, find a job, work the day, get a spouse, buy a house, have 2.4 kids (whatever the average is today), save for retirement, grow old and die. The o

What's the algo? Is it just a static English letter frequency library for short strings? That's what it sounds like to me based on the description.

I agree but I think there are important philosophic[1] questions raised by quantum mechanics and, to a lesser extent, special relativity. One hundred years ago the founders of the new physics had the same questions but could not resolve the

This reminds me of the old adage about the drunk looking for his keys under the lamp post because "that's where the light is". If the solution in physics requires a revolution in philosophy then that is where we must look.

Most people think there are only 5 senses but you are missing the sense of balance from the vestibular complex of the inner ear. Spacial orientation is an important sense for animals.

Not sure why this is being downvoted. It is clear that MS has Apple (and Google) envy and is ramming Win10 down user's throats to get in on the marketing game and wants to run one single OS controlled by them.
