What are you talking about? My iPhone 13 Pro works perfectly on the newest OS. It’s actually hard to justify upgrading. I know lots of people who simply don’t upgrade anymore.

I wonder if this is why I find that I have preferred Claude for every generation. I feel like it gets me and I get it, in a strange way.

Yeah, just putting the structure in the rules and telling it to always specify the full path in commands was enough to fix any multi repo issues for me.

My understanding is this turned out not to be true. People were used to label stuff for new stores, but the actual implementation did not depend on some sort of fakery.

I first read this essay more than a decade ago and it’s still the most influential and inspiring thing I’ve read for computers. The premise is shockingly simple, and I still apply it: when designing an interface, think about how you’d do it

This is absolutely awesome. I’ve often wanted something like 1Password except not secrets. For example, what is my wife’s blood type? What is my grandma’s address? Right now I put those in notes but it’s not discoverable. This seems perfect

I very highly recommend a blog post by this same author: [How to write good prompts]( https://andymatuschak.org/prompts/ ). This post made spaced repetition click for me.

No one ever seems to use it, but for AMPQ I like Beanstalkd. It’s fast, stable and has not failed me under high RPS.

I know what you’re saying, but I’m saving time by: * getting ideas for how logic etc could be implemented * boilerplate is a thing of the past The other thing is that I have the LLM make the modifications I want. I know how long it takes to

This rings true to me. I still use LLMs heavily . However, I now follow two rules: * Do not delegate any deep thought to them. For example, when thinking through a difficult design problem, I do it myself. * Deeply review and modify any co

Is this necessary? Gmail and Namecheap do this for free. I recently set up a domain and was able to set up Gmail and Mail.app to both send and receive as that email. I also use Fastmail and set that up with a domain no problem. Maybe I’m mi

Yeah, I picked up Anki and ChatGPT the same year. I heavily use both. I'd say that Anki has increased my intelligence far more than LLMs have. Anki means that I no longer forget interesting things I learn day to day. To me, that'

My belief for the past almost decade is concern that use of AI will homogenize our culture. For example, the more we use LLMs to talk to each other, the more homogenized English becomes[1]. And, of course, it's amplified when the LLMs

This is so bizarre. I wrote an extremely similar blog post in March 2023: "In the Age of AI, Don't Let Your Skills Atrophy"[1]. It even was on HN![2] Actually, this is not bizarre. The author clearly read my post. A few eleme

Yeah, if look at the definition of Gruen Transfer, it's the design of the mall itself that causes the discombobulation. The fact that there are screaming, attention-grabbing things all over the mall isn't the transfer itself. The

I find this happening to me too often. I'll open a smartphone. Open Instagram. Scroll through for a while. And then realize my intent was originally just to send someone a message. Modern UI is definitely disorienting.

When the AI songs started happening, I've been hoping someone would make a very long version of 1/1 from Music for Airports. This is not that. I don't mean stretched out. I just mean that it gets interpolated outwards after t
