Apples attitude towards OpenGL/Vulkan/OpenCL is super frustrating.

I am not convinced either. Getting a language off the ground is a 10 year affair, don't think its possible for a funded company to bring up a new language unless they are targeting some niche where full scale programmability is not a r

The page for the language is here - https://darklang.com/ but sadly no technical details appear to be publicly available at this time.

I would really like a browser which attempted to be extensible the way emacs is. No modern browser appears committed to extensibility as a key feature / differentiator.

I hope developers allocate some money of their annual salary and use it to buy tools. We need to create financial incentives for people to build good tools.

Qt is $5508 per developer for the commercial version. It appears they are only targeting larger enterprises at this point in time.

This really saddens me. My 2010 Acura has controls that I really like, almost everything is a physical button/knob that I can hit without taking my eyes off the road.

I have really grown to like Antergos over the last two years. Deepin on Antergos comes the closest to a Linux that is so polished out of the box that it exceeds Windows / Linux in visual and product polish.

Completely agree with everything you said but the curiosity that drove my initial question still stands. To be specific do you think Sketch / OmniGraffle are unimplementable on Windows? Why would the creators of those apps after achiev

Now that you point it out, I realize that I should have edited the parts about questionable ideology out. It was needlessly argumentative and distracts from the point I was trying to make.

I respectfully disagree. A contrary viewpoint which I happen to share is the following - As a software developer you build productivity multipliers for your users. Users spend non trivial amounts of time, money and energy building skills to

Ive been surprised because in codebases I have worked on, you usually have an abstract rendering api at the bottom with multiple implementations for each platform. Ive been curious why you couldnt abstract out things like window creation, l

Am curious why some vector rendering products (Amadine, OmniGraffle, Paper 53 etc) end up being Mac / iOS only? Are there some APIs that are Mac only? Why would devs who take an effort to write such a substantial app not ifdef away the

Executing well on your job is a much safer bet career wise to progress since you are working by definition on things that already have institutional buy in. For a 20% project you have to create institutional buy in - ie it is possible but a

As someone who landed up doing what you did, I also had days where I felt what you have described here. On the other hand by going custom you can usually exploit some understanding you have of your problem to great effect.
