Would appreciate any pointers from people who know more about law than I do (which is practically nothing) on what arguments Harvard made back in the day about their discrimination against Jews. Are they structurally similar to the argument

What is the non alternative O/S that has complete hardware support? fwiw openbsd / freebsd have been painless to install on every machine I have tried in the last 5 years.

I would advise looking at hardware in other FAANG companies. Think hardware is increasingly a differentiator both on the server side and on the client. Saying this as someone who builds data analysis tools and has started looking at what it

The fact that you are embarassed is a sure sign that you have grown tremendously as an engineer. Kudos for working on such interesting things.

Arent you doing exactly what you are accusing the author of? One could say - "People are not wrong, they simply have constraints, advantages, and disadvantages". Drawing a conclusion about whether all experienced engineers want to

What about IO? I half suspect its the file notification apis that cause the slowness (since disabling antivirus seems to help a fair amount) but would love to hear more from people in the know. What are the things standing between how thing

Wish Microsoft fixed the following two things a. Fix IO overheads - things like cloning git repositories, copying directories with several thousands of small files, compilation are all much slower on Windows. b. Write a proper terminal.

I am willing to concede that OCaml is a small language (Having not used it, I dont have any evidence for or against). As for C, I was looking at small purely from the views of a new comer who is using a book to come upto speed with a langua

Here is my (arbitrary) definition of small 1. Have a concise crisp book capturing the language 2. Give you a (false) sense of being productive in a couple of days (maybe a week) 3. Limited syntactic extensibility / metaprogrammability

One thing I like about C is that it is a small language hence making it very approachable to newcomers. Other systems languages (C++ / Rust) have much longer roads to being productive.

This analysis overlooks what losing financial freedom for 5-10 years in the most productive part of your life does to you. Ie even if you make the money back later, if there are 5-10 years where your decisions are constrained then you never

I think most criticisms I have seen of MBAs is not of the degree itself, but of the associated costs and the amount of debt the program leaves you with.

I am a lot more careful now, as compared to the start of my career. I have a lot more experience with testing and by all metrics I can measure the code that I ship goes out with a much lower defect rate. I think it is just the reverse - I

I am genuinely curious about the passion of anti C++ commenters - could you comment on your journey towards your current antipathy towards C++? Did you use it and get burnt? What did you use it for? What were the short comings? How long did
