+1 for Udacity. I'm using it now. It's really well thought out and reinforces learning through exercises after each short 3-4 min section of instruction. They use Python for the building a search engine course (CS101), which is a fine (some

The conventional wisdom (i.e. big, fat lie) that you'll hear repeated when you're in high school is that you have to go straight to college out of high school or you'll never do it. It's completely bogus. I rushed college and grad school. I

As a startup, you're resources are extremely constrained. Your most constrained resource is time, esp when you have customers. The hard fact is that you really can only focus on one idea, so make the most of it and pick the one that you're

I like the edit. Anyone that would stop working on their startup because they didn't get funded by YC or TechStars probably shouldn't be doing a startup in the first place.

I like it, but it has my location wrong by about 50 miles. There absolutely needs to be a way to enter the local address.

As a programming noob, I feel like I learned as much in a day on Udacity as I learned in a month left to my own devices using Khan Academy, The New Boston, and other online materials. The fact that they show the immediate application of wha

Does anyone know how Stripe handles this? They say they store cards, but I wonder if they do store cards themselves or use a vault provided by the payment gateway as well.

Ditto on "Code." As a non-programmer learning to program, it was everything I needed to know to wrap my head around how everything actually works.

Yeah, it's great. It is already being done, but that doesn't mean there's not room for more competition. You could probably outsource the printing and I still think the coffee house crowd is the right demographic for charitable advertisemen

I like the idea of advertising on coffee cups in general, and I think the coffee house crowd is a good target demographic for charities. I'm curious, however, why you chose to operate as a non-profit catering to a niche charity market rathe

You said "Other institutions in the 'diploma business' will surely peek and try to keep up and I do not see or understand the benefit for Harvard, Stanford et al. if we are not talking altruistic purposes." My response was on the point of w

Absolutely. I just haven't looked at it since about August and didn't think to use it in my local city, but it seems to work pretty well here in Boston. I'm heading down to Buenos Aires for a couple of months in January, so I'll test it out
