Being interrupted while I work because someone walked over to talk to me, when they could have sent a message to request to talk to me, is the second strongest reason I refuse to work in an office. The first is that I am not paid to commute

Even for humans there was a transition period, and not a sudden explosion of new expression. Naturalist gave way to impressionism, which gave rise to expressionism, and eventually then came abstract works. There's a clear, gradual chan

I'm not convinced that most, or any, humans are ever engaging in truly original thought. This idea that AI cannot be creative but humans can is something that begs for a test; and that test needs to be applied against humans, as well.

That's the metaphor to a T: at one time it was necessary to have an operator, until technology reached a point where buttons would suffice. In the future, script production and revision will still occur via committee, but the actual wr

By AI guardrails they mean: AI cannot be used to write or rewrite scripts, and cannot be source material; but writers are free to use it if they wish. Reminds me of how elevators originally had operators, until everyone realized how wastefu

It's not unheard of for Ad-supported mobile games to have per-install revenues measured in the single cents or fractions of a cent, and total revenues over $200k.

Roblox is an example of this, and Fortnite is following its lead: the game is the social network, the distribution platform, the development target, and the runtime for other games. There's an entire generation of kids for whom "V

It really should be the other way; they ought to tax office space punitively in order to coerce people not to commute at all. Commuting is a major source of emissions, personal health ailments, and encourages human-hostile urban design.

The Quake source has been around for quite a while, this release is just for the rerelease. Quaddicted is a great site to find mods; QuakeSpasm is a fantastic binary for enjoying them; and nQuake is where the multiplayer is at.

The classic lisp way is to build a runtime image by editing the image while running it, then dumping a binary. You never specifically need to load a source file. But you can't easily collaborate with that style of development.
