Have been using Lua 5.3 and luajit for a few years. Also have bought the lua book for 5.3. My thoughts: -- really sweet consistent and simple language -- weak, fragmented ecosystem -- easily embeddable yet powerful -- few bad decisions: arr

one can "overload" operations on table instances, most importantly, accessors by forwarding them to another table, which is somewhat similar to prototype-based inheritance

I have been doing C++ for most of my professional life. There is nothing simple about it. Also there is no standard way to use vector instructions or cache control. Everything else is terribly complicated with templates and rvalues/xva
