Here is the quick and dirty recipe for making money off volatility. Buy a put and a call option for the same strike price. On both options place a trailing stop at a fixed point ( <- that's where skill / statistical analysis comes in )

Verifiably false. Look at the November 17th $600 Call option for GOOG today. Its selling for $59.40 it has an intrinsic value of 59.05 and a time value of $0.35. In this case the time value is two orders of magnitude _less_ then the intrin

So your saying if you don't manage your risk you will lost a lot of money ? Thats goes without saying which is why its called risk. The purchase I talked about exposed me to my purchase price in risk. In reality the risk was less since _eve

Do yourself a favor and don't. From his post I would assume he has been burnt by options in the past and may not have the best insight into them or the possibilities they open up.

Hi there. I buy options all the time. I make lots of money doing it. You only need a 1 to 2% change in price to make decent money when working with options[1]. I don't know why you quote 5-7% as that's just not true. Even if it was Stocks r

I don't see much on the documentation on indexes. Also this looks awesome, I would love to see a option to let it be eventually consistent and still keep the great querying ability.

but it is about the DE. when GTK was transitioned to the GNOME foundation the Gimp folks essentially let them take it in any direction that benefits the GNOME community. GTK is standalone only in that it has bits that others can use, but it

So two things I would like to point out. 1. Gnome is at 3.6 they have many things that are changing rapidly. I don't expect them to limit the things they can do to make the DE _better_ just so that they have a stable API for themes. 2. I ac

For now its an edge case. Thats partially the case because we put such stringent restrictions on the kinds of assistance we can offer, but even in America there are claims of corruption with giving out government assistance. http://www.pol

This isn't an edge case. In fact the NYT just did an expose on how this effects China[1]. You will also find this kind of corruption in every other country where the government is allowed to openly partner in private ventures. Heck we did i

So what do you say when the government doesn't decide to support your start up, but instead picks your competitor and runs you out of business because they happen to be related to a senator ? The ends don't always justify the means.

Just because other countries are corruptly sponsoring businesses to line the pockets of politicians doesn't mean we should be doing that in America. There needs to be an ideological line drawn that says we will _not_ pick winners in a marke

I reference people I just don't use the term people. A big part of being an engineer is know that there are others who know more then you about different parts of problems. Hence look for experts in other domains.

I actually like Herb ( I named a fish after him ). I think he was handed a poor hand when he came into office ( unless you think his 8 months in office is what triggered the Great Depression ) and he did the best he could to get out of it.

I think the author greatly exaggerates the assumpitions he makes about "programmers", just because you know how to write computer code doesn't mean you will want to spend more money on the space program or be opposed to software patents. Fu
