This is the kind of situation that I think screams for OpenFlow[1]. It seems issues like this would be easier to avoid and faster to troubleshoot. 1. http://www.openflow.org/

[shameless plug] Hey github, sounds like you need SevOne. You could have diagnosed this issue with one TopN report and been done with it. [/shameless plug] edit: See following thread for a full explanation .

Scala is really great for this too. The downside is the spin up time for the JVM, but the upside is that if you use SBT's script launcher it will compile and cache the script transparently for you , you can still pull in _any_ JVM dependenc

I initially picked up Lua because it was so easy to embed ( also it was small ). Recently I have seen it used more as a stand alone language, but it really shines when you need to add a scripting layer to an existing project. I was making a

You are somewhat right. You can't manipulate the _same_ memory address concurrently, but normally in multi-threaded programs your not doing that. Consider a traditional matrix multiplication program. You will pass each row/column pair to a

This makes me sad. That's one of the nicest features of 5.4 not needing to type array() all over the place.

So is your argument then that there is so much vested in facebook in dealing with and optimizing for PHP at scale that the real cost would be acquiring that knowledge a second time on a different platform since you _will_ run into scale pro

I think that's a function of their inability to let go of their own work. The internals of PHP need a _complete_ overhaul to make PHP competitive on a speed/memory basis with the python and rubys of the world, but that would mean throwing a

I wonder where the good studios in THQ will wind up. I hope Relic doesn't end up in the hands of EA like so many other promising Studios have.

Nice to see a move to Coverity. I use their product and it is one of the best static analysis tools I have used. Maybe we will see support for more languages rolled into the tool. Hey Eric while your there how about you make the CLI tool su
