I’ve seen what I would consider messes in C++ and Java too, so it’s not exclusive to dynamically typed languages, but I’ve certainly seen enough in Python and Javascript to understand what you’re saying. It’s also a reason why I dream of a

Yeah. By dream of I mean “if I had a on of free time, it’s something I’d love to make because I want it” while knowing it will never happen. I know that Clojure itself will never support it, outside of external projects like Typed Clojure

I’ve personally had to deal with far more and worse messes in Python, Java and Javascript than I ever did in Clojure. (Started using Clojure ~13 years ago, but have been in jobs that use the other languages I’ve mentioned in that time too

You make some great points and I want to echo that Clojure is the only language where, when I am evaluating a library or even when I’m using one and want a bit more information, I look at the code. I’m quite comfortable in a number of langu

What is the all-inclusive-with-tax cost to the customer of a PS5 in USD? I guess that would be a fairer comparison: actual cost to customer.

Going by the current EUR/USD price, from your link, they are charging more. They're overcharging by about $33. To make the Euro price be on par with the USD price, they would have to charge 515 euro, not 550.

Are you ignoring the part of that page where if you click sign up, you can create an account for free, and get protection and services for free? Sure, its not everything they offer is free, but enough for most users is.

Godot’s visual scripting was very much an afterthought anyway. It was an alternative syntax for GDScript really, rather than something designed with a use case in mind. Visual scripting can be great, if it’s specifically designed to tackle

I’ve been bitten by mutable data changing behind my back even without concurrency. It can happen in code that is too magical, eg by having various listeners trigger that aren’t explicit in code (for example “pre_save” hooks in an ORM I have

The other commenter answered it (that unity’s source costs money to get access to), but my comment wasn’t about whether it’s proprietary or not, but rather if the source is available/accessible . Unreal’s source code is on GitHub, but

Interestingly, I’ve been using Clojure since 2009 and I’ve never once used STM (outside of playing around to learn how to use it). I’ve used agents on occasion, I’ve used atoms, I’ve used core.async a lot, but refs and STM, to me (ie YMMV

Isn’t Unity’s code available? Unreal’s is, at least. It’s not quite the same as having official support and you don’t have the same rights as in open source, but you can at least change the code and fix it yourself if you really need to (wi
