hmmm... > No. Where do you find me advocating for "strengthen[ing] government" in this thread? Everytime you say "free markets beget cronyism" you're implying a less free-market would beget less cronyism. That c

Completely illogical... > You call that cronyism. I claim it's the logical conclusion of human nature unfolding within an unabashed free market. A free-market is reliant on government power to protect/enforce property rights.

Are you talking currently or historically? Historically, TONS. America was for quite a while (still is in some cases, others not at all). Currently, Hong Kong is a great example of a largely free economy. https://www.fraserinst

Nope, I mean capitalism. Not going to change the definition because cronyism is an easy target to criticize. Crony-capitalism =/= capitalism.

Would you not agree that distinguishing between free-market capitalism and crony-capitalism brings important value to the discussion? The inclusion of government force or government collusion is hardly a secondary consideration. The abilit

The world bank (and central banks in general) are extremely antithetical to the central ideas of capitalism.

Originally, this is much more in the purview of state government than it would be in federal government, anyway. It's easier for us to affect change, as well as easier for us to shield ourselves from shitty governance, when decisions

I almost feel like you aren't responding to my comments... The questions you're asking have been addressed, and I have even posted an extremely famous piece of literature which can explain your missteps better than I ever could.

I gave a vital piece of criteria for the assistance you're too busy to discuss; I didn't insinuate anything. Also, you clearly didn't read the passage I posted, which is cool, but lots of the points your making are addressed

Not being able to centrally plan/organize the economy to help those "victimized" by progress is very different than not being able to help at all . What do you propose that wouldn't act as a handicap on the economy o

Economic systems have goals. They're systems devised by men. They don't just throw spaghetti against the wall and call it an economic system. Socialism was designed to accomplish some set of goals, capitalism was designed to ac

We're getting caught up in pretty meaningless semantics here... but maybe your conflating natural individual self interest with the goal of an economic system? They are different things. Capitalism (the economic system) looks to chan

Economic systems and theories are absolutely devised with goals. Entirely agree the economy is nothing but individuals, that's why capitalism is so ingenious, but that doesn't mean the system doesn't have a goal.

Unfortunately, this myopia is and will always be perennial. I think in large part it's a misunderstanding of what the goal of an economy should be; many think it's maximum employment - it's not. Maximum employment is a si
