If it's less than 1% of your net worth, not that insane. It's similar to how many crypto businesses will have a hot wallet with some fraction of their more secure cold wallet that they're okay losing.

That's not true in my experience. I've had friends who worked in or adjacent to the industry in several countries. While there are obviously significant numbers of minors involved and some workers forced into it, the majority are

By that definition, all politics is "hate". Passing a law will always take away the rights of a group in some way or other, and politics is the debate of whether or not that's a good or bad thing. Personally I'm 100% fo

But how would you eventually reconcile and settle balances? Would all payments be just non-fungible bilateral agreements? So if I paid the milkman for some milk, but there was no good or service I could later provide to him, he would be un

I'm fine with that. I'd rather parents make "bad" decisions about protecting their own children than the government forcing their own opinions on them.

Yep I bought several Huawei 4.8 kWh batteries for about $450 each for an off-grid house in SE Asia. They've been working great a year later, running AC throughout the night.

That really depends on where you live. I set up the batteries and inverter myself, but paid a local installer and his 2 helpers a grand total of $45 to install and ground 10 x 600w panels on my dangerously high metal roof.

There is a lot of bad, but GPS maps (Google Maps for business reviews and public transport info and OSMAnd for hiking tracks) is extremely valuable to someone who travels a lot. And as much as I hate sending all the data to Google, their Tr

I'd like to see the stats on how many people regularly drive 500+ miles in a day. I'm American, so grew up in car culture, but I've never driven more than 200 - 300 miles in a day.

I don't think the analogy holds. A drug user wants to buy from the dealer. The dealer is providing a service that the drug user can voluntarily turn down. I don't see how that's similar to a driver running into a jaywalker.

Indirectly causing a death doesn't make a crime violent. A doctor guilty of fatal negligence isn't a violent criminal either.

While tragic, those people (or at least the vast majority) weren't forced to use drugs. They made that decision and faced the consequences. Shifting the blame for their poor decisions onto the drug dealer is unwarranted imo.

Sure, string encodings are used for most APIs and ultra HFT may pattern match on the raw bytes, but for regular HFT if you're doing much math, it's going to be floating point math.
