Just taken a look at my Adguard Home query log for my TV, it seems to try and make hundreds of requests to "logs.netflix.com" for some reason - I'm not a subscriber to Netflix, I've never opened the Netflix app, I just t

This is awesome and a great demonstration of where 3D printing and a bit of design nous can get you Last year I tried to design my own magsafe stand but it was proving to be too complicated to meet my criteria of looking good and be stable

I love PTA and have been doing it for years, using beancount, fava and emacs. The main benefit for me is keeping track of everything, including pensions, RSU vests and so on. I have some scripts that help me connect to banks and translate t

I don’t use it as some motivational tool to change spending habits or whatever but I do like to keep a record of all my accounts and assets, I think it gives me a better understanding of my whole financial picture and I create ‘virtual’ acc

I use beancount in emacs using the beancount extension which does autocomplete, and I’ve added some of my own elisp tricks to make navigating around the file easier. It’s actually the only thing I use emacs for.

This is really cool and demonstrates the power of stuff like home assistant really well. I’ve recently rediscovered my old music collection from the pre-streaming days on an old NAS, thousands of mp3s with carefully curated id3 tags etc. I’

I have a 15 Pro Max and I like it, I actually switched from Android last year so I've only been in the iPhone world for a short while. The camera button/gesture thing on this new model seems decent but none of the features really

I watched the videos embedded in the article, annoyingly they don't show the cutting process just the splitting part but still. One thing I always appreciate about watching these sort ofs things is how much work and people goes into it

I was thinking about building one of these but I read that IKEA have cut costs on the materials and the legs/table are mostly honeycomb inside so no longer strong enough for something like this. Would be interested to hear if anyone ha

The iPhone mirroring looked interesting, I'm not sure why I would use it but it might come in handy in a pinch. One thing not clear in the presentation (or maybe I missed it) was how this feature works when apps ask for FaceID, e.g. fi

I've been using traefik for a few years for all my self hosted things. I abandoned the dynamic/discovery/docker labelling functionality though it was just too finicky and annoying to debug. Instead I generate a static config

I used claude opus recently to help me build a website. I mocked up the design in balsamiq and pasted a screenshot of it in into Claude and told it to write the html for it with Twitter Bootstrap CSS framework. The output got me 85% of the

Neat! I was always under the impression that rice cookers worked on a timer basis, but from the article it sounds like it's more of a thing where the appliance will tell you when the rice is cooked - is that right? I'm intrigued t

IKEA have really nailed the smart home thing, the products are affordable and unassuming and crucially, all zigbee. You don't even need to use their hub you can use your own. I've got a bunch of IKEA smart lights, motion sensors,

I'm not sure how I would do that on my model (ScanSnap S1300i), it connects over USB and has no touchscreen/control interface or network port, or wifi capability, you have to connect it to a computer via USB. This works fine on sa
