Making phone calls "unnannounced" has always been a struggle of mine, mainly because I start to think "am I bothering them?" and then negative thoughts start to flood in. I do have anxiety issues which I go to therapy fo

Seems a bit overkill for personal use. I use Twilio with a small bit of code to call their APIs when I receive a voicemail, and send me an SMS transcription of the content of the audio. Costs much less than $1 a call!

I think it depends when you were born. In the 70s/80s/90s it was very common to get phone calls (on landline phones) at all times of the day from family members or friends. I remember being on the phone to friends from school for

I wonder if it's an introvert/extrovert thing. You see typically extroverted people having no problems with being on the phone all the time, probably because they call equally extroverted people who do the same. Look at sales peop

I subscribe to "Hacker Noon" RSS feed, it sometimes throws up some interesting posts, but I swear most days 90% of them seem to be about bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. Is there any content curation on hackernoon at all?

I mostly consume my RSS feeds on the London Underground, where 70% of the time you don't have cellphone or WiFi signal. While my preferred RSS reader NewsBlur can download everything up front, for offline use, I tend to find a lot of s

Can't recommend PocketCasts enough, it's really all you need. One of the nice things about it is it will sync episode progress across devices, so if you pause on one app, you can resume playback on another.

Has there been any studies on this? I'm under the impression that opoids are much stronger than cannabis, would people who take them be able to wean off them onto cannabis based products?

I really enjoyed reading this essay, I've had this uneasy feeling for a few years too. Most of my browsing habits these days centralise around HN and Reddit, with a sprinkling of RSS feeds via NewsBlur (although most RSS feeds are crap

Is anyone else getting chat service fatigue? Looking at my dock I have Discord, Slack, Textual (IRC), WhatsApp Web open. I wish there was a service that just amalgamated all these together into one thing, with a rough set of common features

I guess the main issue is the media will drum up some moral panic about undesirables using devices like this, to record clips of children or whatever. I've often thought about a device that would catalogue my life, what I did, be intel
