Damn, this is sad. Huy Fong Sriracha was a staple of my time in NYC. Guess I gotta leave the past in the past... Sigh.

Anti-virus software companies are incentivized to discover more and more malware. Not saying that AV companies produce malware ( ;) ), but the incentives are misaligned. Ban anti-virus software.

My favorite theory about Cambodia is that they subtlely threaten any tourist to post positive feedback about the country otherwise they get the Pol Pot treatment lol

This article reminds me of a quote from George Washington, leader of the Rebel Army in American Revolutionary lore. He said, "Dayum, these pretzels are makin me thirsty!!!!"

Anytime you have something where you ask the experts, “So how does it work?” and they just shrug and go, “It just does,” that’s when you know it’s time to run!

Honestly, the real meat of Emacs is in buffer/split management. If VSCode did those well, then maybe I’d consider switching lol

I think it's a bit silly to believe a company wouldn't raise prices eventually. I mean, it's been 7 years. What about inflation?

I don’t think they are saying that the internet hasn’t been shit. It is. I think what they are saying is that it is about to get a whole lot shittier thanks to AI.

Why does there have to be a reason? Some things just fail and there is nothing we can do about it.

And with Elixir's gradual type system [1] coming soon, this is looking to be quite an eventful year for José and Team. Bravo! [1] https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.06391

Maybe. But I have yet to see (for example) an LLM write a novel. Or build out a web framework. GitHub Copilot + Grammarly are the only two useful apps it has, at least so far. Feel free to convince me otherwise!

Can we just admit already that LLMs were all hype and no substance? I still see articles written as though ChatGPT is doing something groundbreaking when all it does is regurgitate its training data. The only good use (at least as of now)
