Re: Onyx's architecture. I would wonder about performance when keeping a shared log in ZooKeeper. Why not use something like Kafka -- it is designed for high-volume, immutable logging. ZK works best for less-frequently changing configu

Great point. Perhaps it is important to distinguish "logical" and "physical" mutability. I say this because reading a splay tree doesn't change the return value in the future even though it changes the internals.

I found splay trees because Wikipedia mentioned them as being particularly useful for discrete-event simulations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrete_event_simulation > The pending event set is typically organized

A search for "tensor" gives a java.lang.NullPointerException. I realize this may not be intended use case, but I certainly won't be the only one typing in text.

If one describes CQRS as being mostly about a write (e.g. master data) + read (e.g. derived data) combination, how far could one get with a relational system with views and triggers?

I think of Datomic as much more than a write log, since it includes the Datalog query language. Also, how are you defining "high write volume"? Have you looked at metrics of how fast Datomic's serial transactor can be?

My hunch is that a lot of value could be added -- and perhaps money made -- by rethinking the resident matching process. This would be much more than an algorithm redesign.

I'd be interested to know if the algorithm can be audited, and if so, by whom and why what process.

The article does not overstate the significance. Have you known people going through Match? It is quite significant for those 34,000 people. I don't follow your argument. The match process has very little in common with people leaving
