Provable privacy based on 'anonymized' published data sets that resists third-party information and linkage is really hard -- arguably impossible in general. When people claim 'anonymized' data, I tend to not be fully co

I hope so, but I would be a little surprised if they used DP. I am more inclined to think they will take a 'traditional' (weaker in terms of provable privacy protection) approach.

I also think that contract-to-hire is a good option to consider. Vetting a small, unknown company requires time and effort.

Do you have favorite tools and algorithms for collaborative decision making and/or voting? Please share. Also, I would appreciate responses and feedback on an old post of mine titled "Better Online Voting": http:/

At many levels, we would benefit from better decision-making tools. This includes voting tools with various ballot options and good accountability. Better tooling and awareness around collective decision making is valuable for groups at man

Rich has great talks. However, I am not sure if what the author wrote ("Your most powerful problem solver is your subconscious mind.") is a spot-on articulation of what Rich means by hammock driven development. Here's my summ

I use Atom with the language-rust package. I'm very pleased. Before Atom I was using Emacs. I don't expect to go back to Emacs unless I need terminal-based editing.

I enjoy Elm, and I think improvements are welcome. In particular, I would like to see some improvements to the Elm REPL such as type inference and documentation strings. The article makes some great points; however, the title is not particu

I wrote an "abuse of our attention". Here's why. Attention is a limited commodity. Movement attracts the eye. Using movement is fine if it conveys information. Movement that never stops should only be used if each movement c

Yes, and this is a good thing. It is better than what we do, informally. We all use models (of some sort) when we process information; e.g. I discount certain publications and value others. But few people actually make their models explicit

This debate isn't simple. I'll try to distill it as best I can. Sure, some people only want to work with new things because they are novel. That's human nature. However, that's not all of it. Many people strive for new t
