Readability is, I think, a function of your expectations. If you're used to seeing a particular incantation, it's readable. Personally (emphasis on the personally, which is my point), I don't think it gets much more readable

It seems reasonable that they're investing their float. It seems possible they're creating Byzantine regulations in order to increase that float. No evidence, but it doesn't sound complex to me - money is fungible, and all

Of course it's a good point, it's one of mine ;) My expectation is we'll end up with "to avoid a hard cliff between a network reliant on mining and one reliant on transaction fees (and the inevitable instability of the t

Algorithm is defined by consensus. Changing the algorithm just means gaining consensus amongst the miners. "Would you like to continue printing free money?" sounds like an easy sell to me.

I've been on a WWI kick lately, and I can absolutely believe that. I'd love to see a good written account. WWI was a weird point in history when we could build immovable objects, but not yet create unstoppable forces. So the great

BBC is biased towards the status quo. Very, very broadly it's position is economic-right social-left, which is pretty much Official Government Worldview, whatever the government, these days.

The short answer is that, yes, the only parser available to me is that strict. If I'm going to jump languages, I might as well go the whole hog and jump to Puppeteer.

I know of a site where all the data is embedded inline ("var Person = {firstName: 'Fred', lastName: 'Smith' }") then rendered to HTML with JS. No endpoints, Javascript not JSON, complete pain in the ass to extr

Has anyone proven that the recent spate of "apply neural networks to a text corpus" projects produce output any "better" than a markov chain with the same inputs would?

I've used email addresses as source dictionaries. Turns out people see both choosing an email address and choosing a password as a kind of personality test, meaning there's a lot of overlap.

Carbon dating measures the ratio of C14 to C12. This ratio doesn't start to change until they die, and are no longer renewing their carbon from the environment. Radiocarbon dating does provide an accurate date (although less accurate t

So in what circumstances would you need the polyglot bit? (I guess I'm assuming a container/VM architecture here).

Surely you only need to check N+K? Because if (N1,N2) satisfies N+K, then (N2,N1) must satisfy N-K? You can also stop when you hit Nmax-K... might save a few lookups when K is large.

Maybe "just after the electronics, but before the print heads/motors" is the appropriate place to probe. It might be more work than anyone's prepared to put in (and of questionable utility), but you could emulate the mot
