I've engaged with GingerBill enough on X and the Discord server and I have no idea what his political stances are; he literally never talks politics in public (he's also English and not American). So if he says there's a pol

NetBSD puts Lua in kernel space, is it a C competitor? Rust is an obvious competitor to C++, both are similarly featured. When people talk about "modern C competitors" they're almost always talking about more minimalist langu

Is C++ a game oriented language because most game engines and games are written in it?

The whole "C competitor" category is about minimalism so no one puts Rust or C++ in that category. Also Golang has a GC so most wouldn't even call it a systems language at all...

It's kind of niche but is getting bigger. The Discord server has 10k members, the biggest(?) Twitch programming streamer has been using it recently, JangaFX is big enough to be used by AAA game companies and a few large film studios,

True but in the physical world a landlord has a monopoly over the parcel of land. Valve has a ton of competitors that seemingly get no traction and Steam is beloved.

Valve is one of the most efficient (revenue/staff) corporations there is. Far more so than most tech companies even. If that's how you measure goodwill then it seems like it works.

It's in Valve's interest to have their own OS and not rely on a rival's platform. Especially a rival that has proven many times they WILL abuse their power.

The rest of the world has educated people willing to work for less. Wages are just supply/demand. I'm not saying either is right or wrong, it's just an observation.

The wickets are the physical sticks behind the batter. Someone is out when you "take their wicket". But yes, the player is then out of that inning. The jargon is annoying but it's a lot like baseball.

Nah, cricket is pretty analogous to baseball. Instead of 9 innings there's one inning, at least in ODI or T20 formats (best to watch anyway). Instead of 3 outs there's 10 outs (called wickets). An out is having a ball caught after
