And I'm guessing you bought a vehicle with enough space for all the things you'll take on that road trip right? Odds are you didn't buy a Prius and rent an SUV for your road trip... Range doesn't matter for ICE vehicles

Massive handouts via welfare programs is the only thing that keeps left leaning parties in power anywhere in the west. They've failed at bringing prosperity so they just court retirees, the unemployed and hire more government workers.

If it's just for personal use see if your bank/broker has an API for market information. Most do even if it's not advertised. Also some resellers of market information are pretty affordable for personal use.

I use Lem. It's an "emacs" but not a clone of GNU Emacs. It's written in Common Lisp, extensible in Common Lisp and it's way more performant than GNU Emacs. Obviously less features and plugins but for my needs (w

Which is what I do. One can dream though right? Of a world where Ruby stayed just a tad more Lisp-y and less Perl/C/Smalltalk/Unix-y. Also I'm working on a DSL/Macros that give me more Ruby-esque quality of life t

Funny enough Lisp was originally meant to be written in a higher level syntax (with infix operators and everything). But yeah, macros and S-expressions make it easier to write your own DSLs.

Buy-Borrow-Die resets the basis for capital gains tax, but then there's estate tax when the money gets passed on (exemption is only $15 million, trivial to billionaires).

No, taxed when you earn the money that repays the loan. Income tax, capital gains taxes, dividend taxes, estate taxes, etc... However the money was acquired to repay the loan, a tax was applied.
