Exactly, these folks were either in the right place at the right time, or got "help". Buying a home at all these days is getting harder and harder, I have no doubt OP's rent is higher than their mortgages.

I've had so so results with EMDR for trauma (lots of childhood shit). I'm hoping psychedelics become legal for therapy, I've heard / read great things.

So true. I don't understand the logic of why companies do this. It's not limited to big tech, I'd say it's true anywhere the company grows beyond 40 or so employees.

Yeah I agree. This reads to me more as one of those folks who is always trying to one up. Oh, you're tired? Well I got less sleep than that! Shout out to everyone who decided not to work today because of work life balance. You'

My mom couldn't afford it, she spent years not being able to go to the dentist and eventually got the money to do some root canals. It almost certainly is a thing.

So happy to see this as the top comment. We need way more positivity in tech.

Very much so, like how only small banks in 2008 got destroyed.

I still would do some sort of septoplasty, before that I couldn't breathe out my nose at all. Now I use nasal pillows for my cpap, so it was mostly worth it in the end.

Damn, I got goaded into this to "fix" my sleep apnea. Didn't really fix it, I still needed a cpap. I can breathe out my nose now, but it's always felt wrong. And my sense of smell sucks.

What is the alternative to catering to developer experience though? If developers struggle with performant technologies / methods / frameworks, I'm sure they're going to end up producing crap apps in the end still. Rathe

Reality often times runs counter to our expectations though, which is why I wondered if no brace methods have been shown to enable simpler to understand usage / understanding.

My google ability didn't see anything, but are their any case studies that show it's more readable? I'm happy to accept that it is, but I can't help wondering if research has been done or it's mostly gut feeling &#

That's a good point someone brought up in a different comment. I haven't really dealt with those scenarios, so honestly I'll accept that as a reason. I wish it could be displayed with braces though, I wonder if someone alrea

That's just display though, if you have to show it to a skeptical client, why not run it through a browser that shows it without braces? It's the same as showing a webpage instead of the html.

What is the obsession with removing braces? I will never find the lack of clear demarcations (relying on indent) easier than braces.

I think this is slippery slope / weird thinking. The idea is to give those folks the actual freedom to "level up" as you put it. It's hard to do that if your working multiple minimum wage jobs, or just 60hrs a week at

This is a weird view, albeit a common one among die hard free market lovers (I've even heard the "dominant in their niches" thing verbatim, although I doubt folks could expand on what that means). The typical individual outsi

For the most part, even tinkering inventors are simply forced to sell their big idea / invention to a company at less than face value. Not many have the capital to do anything with their inventions.

Why do folks stay in abusive relationships or situations? Humans are complicated. I can't explain their point of view or the context, but I'm sure there's a reason. Sometimes it can be financial even. Trauma is a hell of a

I've had the same issue with finding more concrete details about it. I've read an entire book on data mesh, and while I get all the concepts, I sense that it's more like agile (a loose methodology) in the sense that it'

Yeah, it's just dumb. Only winners in this market will be those who own property as an investment. First time home buying is quickly becoming a pipe dream.

Everyone is socialist to a certain degree. The only argument is how much. No one is going to say we shouldn't work together as a society. It's literally just a determination of how much.

We are, it's just that the inflation is only noticeable in assets at the upper tier (housing, stocks, high end electronics, etc). No one is too interesting in buying up all the food, so there hasn't been immense inflation seen th

This is a weird stance to take. What speed is allowed in your opinion? 1 month in the "dev ranks"? 1 year? 10 years? Why gate something based on anything other than ability to deliver?

There are so many cost barriers to treatments. It's definitely not for patients at this point. For instance, I am supposed to redo my sleep apnea test every so often. But it's out of pocket? Why bother, I know mine is due to my
