There’s also this interesting mix of humbleness and ambitiousness, with the real feeling of “everyone can change the world” by actually doing fantastic things, instead of boasting about their skills. It sorta feels like a place where the en

Sadly, there're very few modern examples of big companies following this solution.

I think it depends on organization. In some good ones, politics and engineering align well. In most, they don't.

Funnily enough, I entered a hard Leetcode problem into ChatGPT the other day, and it was able to "solve" it!

Thanks - and yes, this is meant for external secret management solutions like Vault, not GitHub Secrets, which are "safe" enough.

Does secret scanning also apply to public GitHub Action logs and Issues (or more generally, Checks logs)? We found Action logs to be a much bigger threat now that many folks have learned not to embed secrets directly into the code and to us

Lots of ways this happens either accidentally or intentionally. I think most common accident is due to forgetting to add a file to .gitignore and then using git add . . Intentionally, folks just embed secrets into code out of convenience wh

According to TechPowerUp, they’ve solved the heat dissipation problem for this gen in a different way: > These would use one or two "Zen 4" chiplets with stacked 3D Vertical Cache memory. A large amount of cache memory operatin

Yeah - I think the key here is 4x32GB specifically, not just 4 sticks. 128GB is much much harder on the memory controller, since those are dual-rank memory modules (or pseudo-4R due to how DDR5 is wired compared to DDR4), and we got 4 of th

Thanks for clarifying. HEDT is somewhat of a stretch name here, since technically there’re no current consumer-centric HEDT platforms like Threadripper or X599, but in their place I’m talking about the next best choices like 7950x and 13900

Basically, on AM5 4x32GB sticks nominally run at only 3,600 (i.e. no better than DDR4, and at probably slightly higher latency). On Level1Techs forums, there’re some folks that got it working as high as 4,800, which seems to be the barrier,

They really need to step up their game with making higher capacity modules available to consumer HEDT market. I think the current roadmap is to intro 48 and possibly 64GB modules at the end of 2023. Without that, many folks who’ve used 4x32

Yep, that too. Do you know if they’ve been marketed already? Or still in the R&D phase? I last looked at it ~8 years ago when I was working with someone who started a company around that.

An even cooler approach is microneedle polymer array patches, currently under R&D last time I checked (it’s been a while though). It consists of an elastomeric array of microscopic needles (<1/4 mm I think) that are coated with

Is there some data to confirm that? Both AMD and Intel just came out with their new 5Ghz+ CPUs. I doubt that even M2 is faster.

Meh, desktop Intel/AMD chips still beat M1, and are more versatile for gaming etc.

In the code space, would have to disagree I think, given how both JetBrains [1][2] and VS Code have embraced the client-server model, and how products like GitPod have used these to a full extent with excellent native integrations. [1] htt

I think the problem is with incentives for the company who creates it, unfortunately. The benefits might be very good, but the need for monetization would just get in the way of many positives. Unless maybe we figure out a way to do ad-bloc

Yeah. Arguably as a proto-VR medium, Second Life existed for a long time, but is still far from being the most popular gaming platform (though maybe that has to do with it being not an actual topical game). I don't want to dismiss this
