On top of this, many people prefer to "zoom out" rather than "zoom in" during meetings :-) Though that's not everyone.

That's actually a very good point (though still a niche market). For those of us having relatives/friends in distant places (or colleagues in the global workforce), this could be immensely useful. I do think this is far from a ubi

I guess it could be useful in a world where climate change and/or a far worse pandemic have made being outside extremely dangerous. But I think we'd have far bigger problems than VR in that case (like food scarcity). With that sai

I think there might be a use case for these jailbreaks that doesn’t have to do with games (and online updates) though. Scientific computing was a huge thing for PS3, though not sure if the price/performance is still there for the newer

Curious what RDNA 3 will have to offer, and how they would approach the same problem.

It seems there would be a trade-off with folks going faster through checkouts, but I guess that benefit only extends to busy stores.

Not to put blame on MBAs, but Sloan has always stood out of the pack for me. Others are more “we’re just doing more amazing things than anyone else” kinda elitist, not “we’re better/smarter/more successful etc.” kinda elitist.

No way tbh, it was still completely non-elitist in '17. Or are you saying it's changed in the last 5 years?

Just got demotivated to get one. Is there a reason why they do all that? Is that because of Covid or something else? I've been kinda under the rock on this..

Wait whaat - surely students still can access all buildings no? I thought that’s just about closing from the public. With that said, even that is pretty bad.. We used to host random word games with external students.

Exactly. LSP for Kotlin in VSCode unfortunately had far inferior experience compared to IntelliJ native support.

It's too bad other IDEs (like VSCode) have only a primitive support for it. That means Kotlin is only ever usable with an IntelliJ license, and forces one to use this particular IDE.

I'm not so sure about the slow startup claim here :-) I.e. Spring apps still take several MINUTES to start (with Java or Kotlin...) Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Java's dependency discovery mechanism

Exactly, the laptop is the most inconvenient thing, otherwise I wouldn’t mind (and it’s actually kinda cool and a show off). I even got Sonshi style to work most of the time, but it’s not ideal, especially in tight spots. My reasons for get

Custom layouts are such a drug though. I can’t use any other keyboard now, after getting used to my HHKB, and I have to bring it with me everywhere.

Most of what we call “news” these days are not really news, but reporting on an endless stream of negative events, because negativity and sensationalism attracts more viewership (and thus, money). Real news should be mostly local, about all

It is difficult to de-couple these two things, because companies is where science translates to the real world. We need more direct funding from the rich governments for the kinds of research described in the article, which would address th

Interestingly, Apple Watch was initially designed to compete with Rolex, but then Apple found out that folks who can afford Rolex don’t want to change it for anything else. Hence, the mass-market pivoted Watch was born.

Considering all the negative comments here, I'd say we should be just as careful trusting "science" news reporting as we think science itself should be (which it is). The official statement from BU makes a good point on that

I stand corrected on this, but what I’d argue is it’s not an affordable solution for medium-sized companies and non-profits who don’t swim in cash. It could be that our example is unusual (big non-profit), but when we evaluated GG the prici
