This was my anecdotal evidence as a person from a developing nation as well. Parents around these parts give utmost priority to children's education because its the only way they can get out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Add free ed

If memory safety needs this level of fuckery to get going, it's not worth it for vast majority of software. Maybe stick to a GCed language until we can come up with a sane way to do it. These examples look cryptic as hell.

How come the desktop UI frameworks have this issue solved for decades and CSS/Web still screwing around with mishmash of solutions? I guess, people were afraid to break stuff and kept piling garbage on top of garbage. I think it is saf

Seems like Mozilla still hasn't learnt their lesson. Cut the crap and focus on Firefox. Too bad browsers became too large to maintain an independent community fork.

I don't think that, a slightly increased startup time affects vast majority of software projects in any meaningful way.

This was my observation as well. Python and Node still don't have perfect support on ARM (And no, this was not 10 years ago. Couple months ago tops). Not the core language/runtime but libraries. They still rely on native libs for

Oh please, AMD's offerings are worse than Nvidia's in every imaginable way except the open source nature of their Linux drivers. ROCm is shit. Nvidia actually supports CUDA on almost any Nvidia card. ROCm not so much.

I don't understand what's selfish with that since those kids won't be working for free. That's why people pay taxes until the end.

This is one of the most selfish arguments you can make for having kids. You just want someone to take care of you when you are old. If we'll ever have capable robots, you people can stop having children.

I find it interesting to see how would something like Javalin work if coupled with Spring DI. Throw the Spring web stuff out and use Javalin instead. Spring web always felt archaic to configure when you want to go beyond simple CRUD operati

I've encountered a couple of NPM packages with native components which didn't work on a M series MacBook. Languages that uses native libs as part of their own packages are still a risk to do multi arch development/deployment.

Mozilla should handover Firefox to a separate entity and continue with their wishy washy projects. Only thing they are doing right now is ruining Firefox. I'll surely donate to such an entity if they solely focus on Firefox.

That's too long. I just bastardize an existing tld on local network like home.net. Some browsers don't even allow made up names. Internal is too long to type.

Yeah yeah. Haven't we already seen this going on again and again. Companies love OSS until they get some amount of traction in the market. And they'll jump ship to being a proprietary vendor right away after that. Can't belie

They might not release a separate version for OSS, but I've seen this pattern in some "OSS" companies. They allow the OSS version to lag behind in terms on bug fixes and security updates. Some things are hard to achieve witho

As I see, the only purpose of Kotlin is a be test bed for novel features to JVM based languages. And eventually Java is going to integrate those features better than Kotlin. And Kotlin's advantages are gone like that. To be honest, I h

Laptops make great home servers. I have a Thinkpad (broken display) with i7 8th gen, 16gig ram running quite a few workloads for me 24/7. Due to exorbitan cloud costs, I use it as a sort of staging area for apps from my side projects.
