Well done lady. Shooting the messenger is always the easiest. Good luck doing the same for plethora of alternatives as they won't give a damn about your sob story.

There are plenty of laptops with an optional integrated modem. Most of them are top of the line models like Thinkpads, Elitebooks, etc.

What an awesome contribution from German government. Thank you! Unsurprisingly, there is a lot whiners here. Linux desktop scene is full of those circle jerks. Can't we just relax for a bit and be thankful for the fact that one of prom

Second part does not make any sense though because power users come in various forms and shapes. Not every power user need to customize the hell out of their desktop. Some prefer, just let me do my work and get out of my way kind of a deskt

Same here. Recently moved to an M2 pro from Gnome. Mac desktop seems like a downgrade to me.

If the past is any indication, this will comeback in a while with a different form. One of those times they'll get succeed. Chrome is the new IE with extra steps.

Right. The thing is that how it works changes all the time. A construct you used in gradle file suddenly gets deprecated or outright not working with new gradle versions. I heard those things happen during minor version upgrades as well. No

Having children is overrated anyways. If you don't have money or time, don't make them. Let's see how economic pundits achieve never ending growth without new people.

These SOCs could have a better future if they had Linux support to a satisfactory level. I wouldn't touch a Windows ARM device with a ten foot pole, unless of course I can boot Linux on it. Software support is abysmal. On the other han

AFAIK that's just the bare minimum to get Linux booting. GPU and host of other things are missing.

Although I've never heard of D2 until now, it seems like too much programming for a diagramming language. I've used PlantUML for diagramming since couple years and it seems good enough. You need to learn their DSL but you don'

Biggest turn off for me was Rust's horrendous syntax. Dangling apostrophes, wrapping the hell out of things, etc. Just look at this Result<Arc<T, A>, Arc<dyn Any + Sync + Send, A>>. Absolutely horrendous.

Are we rooting for an ecosystem where there are next to no standards? Not even a standard boot protocol. The world is going to be full of devices with one off SOCs with terrible after release support.

That lady could have automated that with just a little glue code. Let the program do the work and use that time to do nothing. Nobody's complaining.

I admire them for not going shitty electron app path. I don't think it's suitable for serious programming. But it has it's uses like working on a folder with a lot of config files, scripts, etc. Making some casual changes on

This is pure propaganda article. AGPL is a great license. You just need to provide a separate commercial license for your customers. It looks fishy when someone advocates for open source but with option to make it proprietary. You can have

I've been using this from time to time on my laptops repurposed as home servers. Mainly for monitoring. Spinning up a VM or container here and there. Too bad they removed Docker support. To hell with Podman.

Perhaps the community will manage to get it to run Linux. Software availability for ARM is one area where Linux beats Windows. Let's hope not to see Qualcomm's usual shenanigans around hardware/drivers in PC chips.
