I've been thinking about this as I recently reset Windows but didn't format my hard drive and create a new version of Windows. How do rootkits work? Can I look this up somehow?

Is it just me or does this visualization show that things aren't actually that bad? And that adverse experiences don't have that much of an impact on outcomes?

This is still too cynical. A large majority of people are not bad-faith actors but rather normal people who simply want to live their lives. To be clear, I'm not arguing whether the lockdowns were good or bad. I do think they were nece

I think this view sucks. A core part of being a functioning human being is being able to interact with others whose views differ from your own. The core problem is the ostracization of opinion on social media. It also doesn't play very

Just do it? Get off your smartphone. It's like the people who willingly pay $15/mo for World of Warcraft and wonder why the game doesn't get any better, play for one hour and then watch Asmongold for 8 hours (I love Asmon btw

Same. Tons of tooling breaks and segfaults. Our codebase has a dylib unknown symbol error that hasn't been fixed since before v1.

Devil's advocate: Deno and Bun are not yet fully backwards compatible with Node. I myself have run into a _ton_ of pain trying to introduce Bun for my team. This can become a big time sink on bigger teams. That time could be saved by j

Can confirm Severance is phenomenal. Shogun is just as good. I'm extremely impressed with Shogun actually. I haven't seen good storytelling like this in years.

Crazy to think that the time horizon for these kinds of attacks span decades. This absolutely does not read like a coincidence. Chopsticks, little sister, "room to work hard", all sound like codewords.

Appreciate this change. The ESM stuff is nightmarishly esoteric. Most recently I ran into ERR_REQUIRE_ESM while trying to write Playwright E2E tests that import from other packages in our monorepo. I really think the way ESM was handled hur

This is my viewpoint too, but I'm always wary of cargo cult refactors. I've seen multiple cases where a refactor moves the needle laterally (or even down). I also feel similarly about rewrites. I think people are way too scared of

I'm surprised you think it's emotional. Seems pretty rational to me. I thought Node.js's selling point is the event loop and its non-blocking nature, and how convenient it is to be able to write both your backend and frontend

I am _super_ impressed with Supabase. I can see how a lot of people may not like it given how reliant it is on Postgres, but I find it to be absolutely genius. It basically allows me to forego having to make a server for the CRUD operations
