How about GitHub discussions? One open source library I depend on uses it to good effect. You could keep the Discord for realtime chat for stuff that should be realtime. Of course, you’d probably have to make effort to push support question

Same thing happens to me. I’m actually jealous of people that can code at night. I have such great ideas from 9-11pm, but if I actually write any code, I’m guaranteed to be up from 2-4am.

How is reviewing individual commits a good thing? Maybe I’m misunderstanding something, but my branches have tons of micro commits that ultimately lead to a larger change. Reviewing each individual commit in that type of branch seems like i

“They work fantastically” is a statement that requires many qualifiers. They work fantastically for some subset of people. For other people, they do nothing. For other people, they have negative side effects that make them not worth whateve

I've been wondering why my Nest thermostat doesn't already have an option to do this. I can turn on the fan manually, but it's not smart enough to do that automatically when it's cooler outside than it is inside.

This looks great! I've been bouncing between PDF readers that supposedly deal with highlighting well, and most of them are terrible. Is it possible to export highlights and notes as Markdown? That would let me dump my notes into Obsidi

This looks like it could be really useful. I tend to write out my specs in pseudocode before coding anyway, so being able to easily translate that human gobbledygook into a form that can be checked for correctness, seems like it could help

I'm not a fan of Trump, but I have to admit, the executive order [0] that forced this disclosure looks fantastic, really fantastic. But if I'm reading it right, it seems like it's just an order to _enforce_ requirements Obama

Since people are voting for Tailwind support, I have to throw in my vote for CSS modules! Even though Tailwind has a lot of momentum now, there are still a lot of people quietly getting things done with CSS Modules, CSS-in-JS, etc. :)

Trauma and PTSD is very real, but yeah, a lot of people are discovering it and thinking their little minor quirks are “a little PTSD”. (I actually heard someone say that.) It’s similar to how depression is very real and serious, but the ter

I’ve been ignoring most news since about mid January. My thought was that if it’s important enough, I’ll find out eventually, and I’ll reduce the amount of information noise going into my brain. That’s turned out to be true. But another une

But you do realize that they also weed out effective engineers who aren’t good at pointless puzzles, and that leetcode.com and dozens of other sources exist entirely to help people beat this system, right? They don’t measure useful skills.

1000x yes. When I finish a significant PR, I almost always wait until the next day to put it up. When you’ve spent 3-4 days grinding away at a problem, the urge is to just put it up and get rid of it. But when I sleep on it and look at the

This is a fantastic idea. My only suggestion would be to make those features that are not immediately apparent more apparent. Even a simple “About” or “What is Radiopaper?” page would help a lot.

I would suggest that retweets should not be implemented. They’re the main vector for toxic discussion amplification, and they add nothing to a conversation. It’s a lazy way of participating in a mob.
