I know what it's like to move out of a 'vortex', sometimes you just have to do it. Don't listen to the naysayers! Good luck and do whatever it takes to get the SF FOMO out of the system.

My problem in my old job was due to boredom. But it was more than that - I was bored and management didn't really take heed of what was wrong despite the feedback that I have been giving at my annual performance review (where I did ex

It is never too late to switch!! Believe me. 1. Start building up an online/offline social and professional network of developers, dev/tech evangelists 2. Start researching and looking into languages that you are interested in per

I am commenting based on my past experience. This sort of behaviour is more of a red flag against the developer rather than against the company. I knew someone who displayed duplicate behaviour in the past before I learned my lesson. Happy

I know a lead developer who would complain to me about his team's problems. Basically "I don't care about your problem, just do your work - I don't care if you have an addiction, if you have family problems...". H

This is a really important issue to talk about, not so much because of the sexism/female engineers angle, but because it deals with how start-ups are managed. TL;DR 1. Have legacy documents, guidelines and policies in place 2. GitHub n

It states that a group of Facebook engineers started the project but it may not be an official Facebook project that is actively maintained or even associated with that company.

I have read through their Masters thesis and compared it to others in their department. The quality of the writing is low which surprises me considering that the person graduated in a top tier level university. As for the PhD, I don't

To gms7777 and tim333: Purchasing a domain name conferring to a 'Dr' title when one has not even obtained such title in the first place is sending out the wrong signal. I'm not convinced.

Thanks for sharing. I have done something similar as well - getting out of a role that demanded more management from me and into a role that is more hands-on.

Cultural fit is not that important for short term hires (ie 6 month contract) because you basically need someone that has the ability to do short term wins. It's only when you look beyond ie 2 or so years when cultural fit (or lack of

I also agree in doing a black mark against the school however it helps to have a look at (in terms of Masters, PhD) the quality of work within that department / within the graduating year. It's a way to go beyond the marketing fl
