I would strongly suggest (beg, really) throwing up a few sample use cases. So, so many new languages/libraries/frameworks/etc (possibly all of them, to be honest) don't even have a simple line saying why I would use it.

Fairly well known on this site, but for those interested, some really good sci-fi authors inspired by Portia's brilliance include Peter Watts and Adrian Tchaikovsky.

I'm not fully convinced it would be an actual problem. So what if my Friday workday spans two dates? Wouldn't "Friday" just be my local day, which spans March 14-15? I feel people like the author would be intentionally m

Do you have case citations to prove that claim? Even if you do, that's not what is happening here. At all.

I believe they are specifically calling MMORPGs time-wasters, which I second (as a video game enthusiast). They're not unique in being so but they are heavily designed to, basically, waste your time grinding. I also agree that even MMO

I'm suspicious of whether that will actually make games more fun or interesting. For example, the more realistic human character animations get, the deeper we seem to fall into the uncanny valley. The fact is that humans themselves nat

I'm not sure what is the argument here. That car crashes meaningfully rise when people drive in the dark? That's possible, but car crashes and other fatalities increase after the time shift in both directions. The problem is the

I don't hate time zones because I have to deal with them in software - there's libraries for that. I hate time zones because I have to deal with people, who never talk in GMT and rarely specify whose time zone they're referri

That's an interesting take, since reducing care crashes is one of the main arguments for abolishing DST time changes.

I first read this article several years ago and hated it. Giving it another shot, I still do. There are probably real issues that would come by abolishing time zone but they aren't raised here. This article was written in 2015, when it

I could definitely be wrong, but I don't see how dark energy would enter this scenario. DE doesn't seem to play a role in gravitationally bound systems like two black holes orbiting each other.

The universe is not expanding into anything. It is infinite. However, new space is being created in the voids between objects. It isn't super intuitive or particularly easy to grasp, things are just getting farther apart.

Yes, but my understanding is that dark energy doesn't play by the same rules, it's an exception. I certainly can't explain why but also it may not be known exactly why, given dark energy is an unexplained phenomenon.
