I'd say a boring quine would be one around the empty file. I bet there's enough lenient scripting languages to arguably make a decently sized quine.

I agree, but I think that the way of achieving that is quite dumb. Id rather enforce something around. The first 1-2 floors in some specific buildings on every campus will turn into shared spaces instead of forcing everyone out of their des

I think that these bundled conditions are bad, and that having negative booleans is terrible. Using and almost abusing early returns on bad input almost always leads to easier to follow code. if (someLongNamedVarIsNotUnknown &&

Why do we need this? I'd have every tld on it's own profile and allow creating groups that merge profiles if needed.

Skip the tax breaks, just ensure it's fun to go to downtown. Tax breaks are trickle down benefits to businesses that don't necessarily get to consumers and not at all to the workers of such businesses. * Reasonably priced food

I grew up using the internet as a child and when Google came out it was way more a blessing than a parasite. The web was hard to navigate and you relied on webpages "befriending" each other and helping you navigate to similar page

I'd go further and say that SEO has not only ruined search, but the internet itself. There's so much crappy content around, generated webpages that aim to match every search query. I just looked for "four times five" and

How do you know it's not that way now? Keywords will still be around at the user interface for people buying ads, they are easy to grasp. Part of the secret sauce is getting those keywords mapped into the right entities in a sort of kn

I think chat is a good fit for refining search queries, but yeah, we already got too good at figuring out keywords to search, which makes writing a question seem a lot more work. Maybe writing search queries in the form of a question will h

On sports teams (who plays baseball anyway?) you have a limit of people who can play at the same time. This does not really happen in a company. If the expectation are easy to miss, maybe the salary of higher ups should be more strongly tie

The cool part about DBs is interleaving storing/manipulating and querying. A raw hard drive is already a DB by just allow you to write to them in that sense, but no one would consider them a decent DB.

I'd love to use a db for a filesystem for many of my directories. Granted, it might just be sub-optimal in certain scenarios, but I already have to logically partition my data into big blobs that are rarely accessed and stuff that must

Well, you can say the same about git right? If you need to change an old commit, then you'd need to re-create all the commits that depend on it. Which is true, but something we leave to tools. In git we can just rebase or absorb. In te
