I was talking to some friends who are teachers about remote learning the other day. They were saying many of their students (they work in rural areas) had the devices but no access to internet. It's a very complex issue now with all th

I spent the last month studying LevelDB's codebase without much knowledge of C++. Learnt a lot during the process.

Great language. Easy to learn, makes sense, good documentation, good tooling support, great core packages, fast, consistent, etc. The only thing I dislike is the CSP concurrency paradigm the community and language try to push. Every time yo

Sounds like you didn't read the book. There's actually a section with the title "Message brokers compared to databases" with a detailed comparison.

Big startups such as New Relic have editors that review everything that goes online. For small startups that are just starting sure.

Not a very good example considering New Relic dominates that space. Also, companies adapt their description to include latest trending words such as observability.

I use a lot of shortcuts when browsing and when I have to switch from MacOS to Linux is always a pain in the ass because they change and is not easy to remap all of them. Maybe trying something like this would alleviate this issue for me.

I wasn't expecting anything. It's just unusual. Anyway, seems he's just experimenting with colors. There's another video with a yellow background in his YT channel and all the latest ones have dark color schemes.

That's cool but memorizing a language doesn't mean he can write good code. You still need to learn the patterns.

I also recommend "Hacking with Andrew and Brad: tip.golang.org" [1]. They are part of the Go team. It's just something to watch the pros doing live coding. By the way, what's with antirez's colorscheme? I wonder if

I wouldn't say "just a hashmap". That would be like saying Kafka is just a log. But I see your point. You could replace some of the very basic functionalities with those data structures.

I don't know. I read the pointers chapter at least 3 times, and I still get confused when I see pointer stuff in real code. The other day, I read the famous regex post by Russ Cox[1], and it took me a couple of hours to understand the

My opinion is that it is possible. But if you are rigorous about what "good" and "bad" means, then no because there's always going to be someone who thinks different. Can we say Mozart was a good composer? I'm
