I've worked for 4 companies in the U.S. and they only sent Employment offers/letters/agreements that I had to sign. Didn't see the word contract in any of them.

You're right. But at least you would have enough proof to seriously damage their reputation in case they change the terms in the letter. I'd like to believe they would care about that, especially in tech where everybody is struggl

If you get to the point you get an offer, always make sure to get that in the contract. I was working remotely for a company that went through some re-org and ended up with a different manager who wasn't very excited about having remot

Also, I would think most people actually do care they are being recorded on CCTV but there's not much they can do about it. It's always an eerie feeling knowing you are being recorded.

I think people that have issues scaling any modern distributed data stack are because a) Don't have experts or b) Bad practices/stretching the use case. I worked on a project once where the ES cluster performance was degrading bec

That's not the whole purpose though. Besides having a better sound, expensive guitars also "feel nicer" to play. A professional guitar player could easily detect a cheap guitar by just playing it without hearing it.

Seems like you are not aware of the kind of problems they solve. Systems engineers have been writing generic programming code for years to build databases, message queues, file systems, etc where you do need data structures that support arb

I highly recommend checking out the Type Parameters Proposal[1]. It's surprisingly easy to digest and has more realistic and complex examples than the quickstart guide or any other blog post out there. [1] https://go.googles

Not really? I mean I would never say "let me know when computer can do X" when X is something that doesn't require too much creativity and imagination. Like, a computer composing music, doesn't impress me too much becaus

Better the devil you know. Many companies like to hire people that worked at other big tech companies before instead of a small company that might be totally different.

Many people say this. But the reality is that solving 100 LC questions and actually understand the solution enough to solve a variation of the problem is a lot of work. Especially if you are working full-time. I wouldn't call that &quo

I find odd so many people complaining about having too many alternatives for streaming systems. If you are not an advanced user of these systems of course you won't be able to choose the right one and it won't be your job anyways.
