I'm interested if you still have it. If it's gone I may still buy the book, it looks very promising.

Your math is off. You could do 3500 requests per hour with 10 accounts. You'd still need thousands of hours (i.e. a few months) because we are talking about millions of API calls.

That would require several million API calls. This sample was taken with only 12500 calls.

What I did was to measure the difference in yield between uniformly generated ids that would correspond to the time after Snowflake (when ids were at 380M) and the ones before. It's true that the yield is less. It went down from about 86% t

Good catch. I just checked the data. The effect of Snowflake is not too high, the error in the estimate because of this is perhaps 10M to 20M accounts. It's almost in the noise considering Twitter's daily signup rate. Also, it may even offs

Microsoft underperformed the market indices in the past ten years (SP500, Nasdaq, Dow Jones). That means its shareholders would have been better off selling the stock and investing in a diversified fund.

Just what we need: generic advice from Michael Arrington. Sorry Mike, but you are not the mold from which everyone else was made. It works for you, great. Other people may do better focusing on addressing and improving their weaknesses.

I agree. It seems like the author of the post threw together a list of books that came out of a cursory search on Amazon. This is linkbait, and I'm flagging this post.

"You are missing a HUGE opportunity to extend and control your brand." Why? The article doesn't touch on this. Craigslist is already an extremely successful business. It's not a small startup looking to gain traction. An API has pros and

Thanks. I've been in the US since the 90s, and by now my writing is about the same in Spanish or English. My early schooling in Buenos Aires was bilingual. Jorge Luis Borges once said "let others brag about the pages they have written; I'm

Possibly true. However, I'd argue that the quantum difference between student debt and a few million in the bank is higher in terms of utility than the one between $5M and billions. Most of your money problems are solved with a few million:

Of course it's awesome to work on those problems. The point I was trying to make is that in this case the company has to choose between innovating for the long term, and solving urgent problems that mean lots of $ in the short term. Interna

Have you ever tried to sell anything to a brick-and-mortar chain? Price is not a concern, they have money. The sales process involves convincing a number of stakeholders, and this is much costlier (to them) than whatever they end up paying

The investors in the initial round usually have some sort of anti-dilution provision, so the founders get diluted much more. See this, for example: http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/content/jan2009/sb20090...
