Thanks, I don't have access to Facebook at Work so I couldn't check it on my own. So apart from the lack of control over URLification in normal messages that the author rightly pointed out, it seems they also have a bug in the nof

I quite often encoded code snippets sent on Skype with Base64 to avoid formatting until I found out eventually they support markdown syntax for preformatted text. I see it is also supported by Facebook at Work, maybe this would help here?

I just pointed out that this is a very basic code. It's definitely not something I would use in any real life scenario(see other posts itt). And if you want to learn about NN you'd be better off googling something like 'backp

Generally when I see links to github projects on HN I expect something useful or extraordinary and this looks like my Neural Networks 101 assignment, only far more polished. But people seem to like it(over 400 stars right now) so maybe I am

I assume you're absolutely right about the areas you mentioned but it's not something that an average developer works on nowadays. In the same way as the majority of professional drivers are not race drivers.

Well, it really depends what do you mean by "something more complex". I remember when the author of rather non-trivial tool used by many of HN users went on Twitter rant because he could not invert a binary tree and failed a white

If programming is really about writing algorithms then why people(both candidates and employers) complain about whiteboard interviews? I think that most of the programming done today are in fact declarative due to abundance of high-level la

I don't really understand these complaints about being downvoted on Stack Overflow. The vast majority of downvoted questions are either off-topic or too vague. SO has clear guidelines on the questions' topics https://st

I think you're too harsh. Akamai, Oracle, Samsung, UBS, HSBC and plenty of other well-known companies have R&D centres in Krakow. Even Google had been there but their office was merged with the Warsaw one a few years ago. Obviousl

You can always select top and bottom bars and add display:none and/or enter full screen mode. Anyway, don't give up, for me it was one of the most interesting reads this month. The author did a great job in exemplifying all projec

You might be right regarding startups where developers must wear many hats but I wouldn't agree it applies to these "vulnerable" industries as a whole. E.g. my experience in one of the major banks was exactly the opposite. Th

Jokes aside, almost every startup needs a front-end developer, most often with little domain-specific knowledge. I assume Web Devs at NASA or SpaceX don't have a degree in aerospace engineering. Is there something wrong with that?

Don't you expect a bit too much from 15-minute-long TED talk? Actually I think it was more informative(and definitely clearer) than a lecture on that subject I had at the university.

AOT compilation and Project Jigsaw coming up in Java 9 should improve the JVM startup time. Although I guess it won't speed up the loading of applications written in other JVM languages much as it's not really JVM's fault.
