Just the website. Using it like an RSS reader. Unfortunately the search bar is not as usable, but I can search using Google by prefixing with "hacker news".

Software is like water. It fills up whatever medium provided. The easiest way find and learn big tech is to work for a big-ish tech company with a big problem to solve.

I dare say, this blog is as dangerous as tvtropes. I keep going down the memory lane with Master of Orion, Master of Magic, etc. and I couldn’t stop!

Go with: * sqlc to connect to PostgreSQL Aurora. * zerolog for logging. * chi for router. * jQuery for JS interactivity. Those are where my strength lies. I can add or reduce components at a lightning speed using Go.

But why? Seriously though, the performance degradation and the "too much magic" problems are not worth it. You could use one of many project bootstrapping tools to quickly spin up web applications in Node, Go, or Rust. If you stil

This guy is fascinating (in a bad way). In what universe can you call your employees: DUMB DOLPHINS (with all caps)?

Automation tool is often shockingly more complex than initially thought. Just think of all the features that Kubernetes do, they all used to be some ghetto scripts here and there. Another good example is Airflow.

Worse are the up and down arrows. They are truly made for ants. I wish HN would borrow one UX person from its own portfolio companies to improve the overall typography and UX.

I wonder if the author has heard of https://github.com/goplus/gop He'd have fun reverse engineering it.

It has been so long since I used MySQL (and that’s for the better). Does MySQL still break when running ALTER TABLE on a huge table? One thing I don’t like about MySQL is that it has too many foot gun.

Can someone teach me how Svelte does what it does? The front page is not telling me much? How does it "surgically" update the DOM? Why is it better than virtual DOM?

I agree. The reason why it doesn't feel that way is because of the wealth of tutorial website on how to run git commands or the users already got used to it. Mercurial names are much more natural but it lost the war already. I use git
